It’s been eight years since Chinese actor-singer Qiao Renliang tragically passed away on September 16, 2016 at the age of 28. In October, speculation surrounding Qiao’s death resurfaced online with some Netizens continuing to make claims questioning his cause of death — suicide due to depression, despite police ruling out foul play.
His elderly parents, who have clarified the circumstances of their son’s passing, took to social media to express their pain over the spread of these rumors once more, describing alleged images circulating online as a “second wave of harm.” Qiao’s friend Zhu Zhen also spoke up amid accusations but it looks like the rumors haven’t waned.

Recently, Qiao Renliang’s parents appeared in an interview to speak about what’s happening. Qiao Renliang’s mother revealed that beyond online harassment, some individuals have gone as far as visiting their old home to confront them in person, pressuring them to admit to baseless rumors. They even encountered a rumormonger at their son’s grave, describing the individual as appearing “mentally unstable.”
Meanwhile, Qiao’s father denied rumors that they accepted a large hush money, stating that if they truly had billions, it would have been obvious by now. To preserve their son’s memory, Qiao’s parents have turned to social media and livestreaming. In light of the nonstop rumors, Qiao’s parents expressed a desire to move forward with their lives, saying, “We don’t want to address these rumors anymore; we just want to live our lives as best we can.”

Maybe only a “small-sized” rumor within their circles. Only gargantuan-sized rumors reach international audiences. 😄
