It’s really refreshing to see an actor who’s able to make fun of himself. Veteran Hong Kong actor and martial arts star Eddy Ko Hung recently sat down with Alice Fung on her show 波姐喺大廳 where they shared a laugh at his expense when he revealed his wife joked he looked like a wanted criminal.
“I’m old and frail” joked the martial arts star when Alice made mention their first meeting when Eddy was sporting a long beard and grey hair, described him being a master in martial arts. Whilst reminiscing about the early days when the Shaw Brothers started making movies in the 70s, Alice made a comment about how he looked more handsome than actor Ti Lung who’s also a popular actor at the time. Eddy humbly said “I’m not, I’m not ” and then proceeded to share that his wife – Chinese actress and martial artist Chen Yongxia, once teased him for looking like a criminal on wanted posters posted at the Mongkok police station. Alice joked back that there are good looking men in those posters too and that’s why she pursued him.

With his trademark mustache that has now grown white, Eddy Ko is a well-known face in the entertainment industry. With more than 150 projects to his name since his debut, he appeared in a whole slew of martial arts films such as Heroes Shed No Tears, The Butterfly Murders and even had a role in the American flick Lethal Weapon 4. These days he shuttles between Vancouver, Canada – his home since migrating in 1996, and the mainland where he returns to film dramas from time to time.
