Remember South Korean actor Ji Seung-Hyun whose apology on behalf of his character Kim Ji-sang went viral this summer? Well, thanks to him playing Kim Ji-sang, Jang Nara’s cheating husband in SBS’s legal drama Good Partner, Ji Seung-Hyun is finally getting the recognition he deserves. After two decades in the Korean entertainment industry, the 41-year-old actor’s career hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. Previously he’s shared about his struggles trying to make ends meet because the work eventually dried out. Now that his career is enjoying a huge surge, it seems life threw him another curved ball. Ji Seung-Hyun recently admitted that he’s battling health problems. “I actually stopped drinking and smoking recently. It’s nothing serious but I have an incurable condition. ”
As a guest on the most recent episode of the Youtube talk show Donor Hyeong, Ji Seung-hyun candidly talked about his condition with hosts Shin Dong-yup and Yoo Jae-pil. “I should’ve stopped last year but I was slacking. Now the time has really come to quit.” He added that alcohol was the biggest culprit for him, especially how he’d turn to drinking as coping mechanism whenever things don’t go his way. Heck even his journal entries reflected this habit -“I did my best, didn’t get the part, had a drink”. It seems it was pretty normal to have a drink during his down time which is why he said it’s harder to resist during his days off when he wasn’t super busy on the set. Thankfully, he’s now a month into quitting though he admits it’s still a process.
