Chinese boy group T.O.P TransForm Project (登录少年) was supposed to be TF Entertainment’s 3rd gen boy group. It comes after the huge successes of 1st and 2nd generation groups, TFBOYS and Teens in Times (TNT). However, it’s now making history as a group where its member has made the quickest exist after debut.
Yu Yuhan Exits T.O.P After Just Two Days
Their agency, TF Entertainment, recently issued a statement confirming the departure of T.O.P. member Yu Yuhan. This decision comes just two days after the group officially debuted on August 26. It has gotten many netizens remarking, “He debuted one day and left the group the next.” It’s made the 17-year-old idol’s departure one of the shortest, if not the shortest, tenure in a group in recent C-pop history. Incidentally, the announcement was made on August 28, which has drawn comparisons to recent events in K-pop. The same day, NCT’s Taeil also made headlines after SM Entertainment announced his departure following serious allegations.
Mental Pressure and Online Allegations
According to the statement by his agency, Yu Yuhan has been facing severe mental and psychological pressure following the group’s debut. This prompted him to repeatedly request to leave the group. TF Entertainment stated that Yuhan’s decision was made after careful consideration and was supported by the company, which acknowledges the difficulties he faced.
The agency also addressed the controversy that has erupted online, which includes allegations and the illegal dissemination of Yuhan’s private information. TF Entertainment warned that those responsible for spreading false information and private details would face legal consequences. The agency urged netizens to stop sharing unauthorized content and expressed apologies to those who were inadvertently involved in the controversy.

T.O.P No Dating, No Private Associations
In light of Yuhan’s departure, T.O.P. will continue to operate as a five-member group. The members include Zhu Zhixin, Zhang Zeyu, Zhang Ji, Su Xinhao, and Zuo Hang. Some netizens have ironically pointed out that when the group was first introduced, they took to stage and declared in unison that they’d be, “dedicated to the group’s development, won’t leave midway.” The group made more promises as Zhixin spoke on their behalf. He said they’ll stick to the principles of an idol, no dating, no private communications. Yu Yuhan has faced many accusations recently with alleged chat/voice recordings of his behavior spreading online.
TF Entertainment’s statement closes with an apology to those affected by the controversy and a call for a more respectful online environment.
