Recently, MBC’s investigative program, True Story Expedition (Silhwatamsadae), revealed a recording allegedly featuring Lee Seung Gi’s father-in-law, singer Lim Yeong Gyu, conversing with his creditor. In the recording, Lim Yeong Gyu is heard expressing his intention to seek financial assistance from Lee Seung Gi to settle his debts, stating, “Maybe Lee Seung Gi will take care of this (debt).” Additionally, Lim Yeong Gyu referred to the singer-actor as “that guy” while discussing his plan to obtain money from him.

This revelation has sent shockwaves through the fan base of the 37-year-old star, who in his heyday was one of the most sought-after personalities in the South Korean entertainment industry. This comes at a time when many fans were already grappling with concerns surrounding Lee Seung Gi’s marriage to Lee Da In. Lee Da In’s family history, notably her father’s past incarceration for financial fraud, has contributed to a decline in Lee Seung Gi’s popularity, particularly following their marriage.

Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da In exchanged vows on April 7, 2023, after publicly confirming their relationship in May 2021. Their family welcomed its newest member, a baby girl, on February 5, 2024. Lim Yeong Gyu, the biological father of actresses Lee Yoo Bi and Lee Da In, was previously married to actress Kyeon Mi Ri in 1987, with the marriage ending in divorce after six years.
