Another Korean-Japanese Collaboration: Han Hyo Joo and Shun Oguri Unite in a Series

In the ever-evolving world of Asian entertainment, it looks like we’re seeing more collaborations between Korean and Japanese stars. This time, South Korean actress Han Hyo Joo and Japanese actor Shun Oguri are set to grace the screens together in the upcoming series Romantic Anonymous.

With a career spanning over two decades, the 41-year-old actress has come a long way from her breakout role in 2009’s Brilliant Legacy to another praise-worthy role in 2023’s Moving though she may have had a miss that same year for her role in the film Believer 2, which drew criticism, her ability to portray a wide range of characters has earned her widespread acclaim and a dedicated fan base both in Korea and internationally. On the other hand, we have Shun Oguri, a powerhouse in the Japanese entertainment industry. Known for his captivating presence and intense performances, the 41-year-old actor has become a household name through his roles. With their visuals and talent, this is a pair to look forward to.

Although produced by Korea’s Yong Film, this project being undertaken by Netflix Japan entails a predominantly Japanese team. Filming is already underway since early March. The drama is based on the French romantic comedy, Les Emotifs Anonymes, which originally centered around a gifted chocolatier battling anxiety and her boss, the shop owner, who’s a socially awkward man. This is yet another one among collaborations between Japan and South Korean entertainment industry that include the K-drama What Comes After Love starring Lee Se-young alongside Japanese actor Sakaguchi Kentaro and J-Dorama Eye Love You starring Fumi Nikaido and Chae Jong-Hyeop.
