Josie Ho Opens Up About Inheritance Received from Father, Stanley Ho

Hong Kong singer-actress Josie Ho is also known as the daughter of the late Stanley Ho who passed at the age of 98 in 2020. He had four wives and 17 children. Born into the spotlight as the daughter of the Macau tycoon and his second wife Lucina Lam, Josie’s journey into the screens of Hong Kong cinema dates back to the early 1990s.

In a recent interview with Chinese television host Chen Luyu, the 49-year-old provided a candid glimpse into her life. Josie Ho’s family tree is as intricate as her career path. She has 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. Josie Ho did not participate in the family business but instead pursued a career in the entertainment industry against her family’s objections. Over the span of 30 years, she has achieved success in both singing and acting, even winning film awards for supporting roles. With a mix of full and half-siblings, she said her elder sister, billionaire businesswoman Pansy Ho, was the most supportive of her showbiz endeavors.

During the interview, Josie addressed the perennial curiosity surrounding her inheritance for the first time. Stanley Ho did not leave a will at the time of his passing, leading to reports of legal disputes between his first and second wives over the handling of his estate. When asked if she received a lot, she responded, “Average, of course compared to the older sisters and younger brother who work for the family, it will be a bit less.” She explained that this is why she can’t shoot many films in a year but emphasized that it’s enough to pursue her passion.

Undeterred by comparisons or expectations of being part of a famous family, Josie Ho has carved her own niche. Today, she stands as the founder of her own film production company.
