Former child actor and Wanna One member Park Jihoon embarks on a journey across genres! Following his impressive performance as the brooding main character in Weak Hero Class 1, the 24-year-old actor takes a leap into the historical drama Love Song For Illusion. However, instead of riding a wave of success, the drama finds itself caught in a surprising undertow of lower-than-expected ratings.

Starring alongside Hong Yeji, Jihoon’s latest venture revolves around a woman seeking vengeance for her family but becomes trapped during her mission to assassinate the king. She wakes up the next day as the crown prince’s concubine, with no memory of her past.

The premiere initially captured viewers’ attention, garnering a respectable 4.3% rating on KBS. However, the drama faced a steady decline in ratings, reaching a low of 1.8%, which further hit a series low of 1.7% by the most recent episode 9. This marks Park Jihoon’s comeback after the success of Weak Hero Class 1, but fans are having contrasting opinions on his newest project. Some lament that Jihoon’s talent deserves projects as explosive as his last, while others hope viewers can give his first headlining role in a sageuk a fair shot.

Then, there are those like me who are still waiting for the continuation to Weak Hero Class 1 now that Netflix has confirmed the production of season two.
