Get ready to wax on, wax off, and strike a pose for a new generation of Karate Kid! Beloved icons Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio who are aged 69 and 62 respectively are set to unite for the first time in an upcoming Karate Kid movie.
In a recent announcement, Chan and Macchio revealed that they are on the hunt for the next Karate Kid. They’re inviting young actors to send in videos for a chance to star alongside the legendary duo. Macchio originated the role of Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 film The Karate Kid and its subsequent sequels. More recently, he reprised the character in the popular Netflix series Cobra Kai. On the other hand, Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan played Mr. Han, a wise mentor who trained the titular Karate Kid, played by Jaden Smith, in the 2010 remake.
News of the new Karate Kid movie broke last year, but details about the plot and casting remained under wraps. Sony Pictures, the studio behind the film, confirmed that the story would be set within the same universe as Cobra Kai and the original films. The new movie is expected to drop in December 2024. Fans of the franchise are no doubt excited to see the two finally crossing paths in the upcoming film.
