The new week brings with it some new allegations as Olivia Jiang Yiyi has been accused of evading taxes. On September 3, a whistleblower under the name “LHHHH” shared online that he reported the actress for evading taxes to the tax bureau back in February. Allegedly, the 22-year-old and her studio failed to pay tax for her personal income between the years 2016 to 2021. In her detailed statement today, September 4, the actress first owed up to the written notice from the tax bureau circulating online. She also confirmed settling the amount owed and late payment fees as ordered by the tax bureau following the declaration of her earnings for the relevant period.
Jiang Yiyi Studio Statement : She Didn’t Know
In a lengthy statement explaining the situation, Jiang Yiyi Studio (JYS) claimed that from the year 2016 to 2021, the actress’ financial accounts were being managed by her former company Jiuhe (玖禾公司). JYS claimed that despite multiple attempts by Jiang Yiyi’s mum to get control of her daughter’s tax and financial situation, Jiuhe would repeatedly delay or deny her attempts. It was only in the second half of 2021 were they able to fully wrestle back control of Jiang Yiyi’s finances that they realised Jiuhe wasn’t exactly paying income tax on her behalf as they should’ve been doing.
So in a nutshell, Jiang Yiyi Studio claims the actress didn’t have any idea she was even “evading” paying her taxes since her previous company has been dodging their attempts to get back control of her finances. However, they said that as soon as the actress and her team had a comprehensive grasp of her financial information, the actress immediately reported the results of her self-audit to the relevant tax authorities. She also voluntarily settled the full amount owed from 2019 to 2021 and from 2016 to 2018 in Kaifu District and Jinhua City respectively. JYS also shared receipts of the payments as proof.
It’s widely know that Jiang Yiyi previously ran into legal trouble to leave her agency and just recently came back to the public eye. The former child star has become the latest celeb to be caught in recent tax allegations. Meanwhile, Song Zuer who is also a former child star has continued to remain silent after allegations of tax evasion were raised against her last week.
