Oh wow, it’s pretty nostalgic to see these two stars of Taiwanese noughties dramas get together IRL. Marcus Zhang Tianlin and Jennifer Hong’s blossoming romance is a story worthy of any friends-to-lovers trope. It’s been ages since these two worked together in the 2006 Taiwanese drama Love Queen 戀愛女王. And although they’ve remained in touch, they’ve always been just friends. This all changed when they bumped into each other again at a friend’s party. Marcus Zhang was back in Taiwan at the time due to the pandemic to care for his father.
Jennifer Hong is currently busy filming for the campus BL themed drama The Only One which is based on author Mu Su Li’s Mou Mou 某某. She plays the mom in the story about two high school students who become “brothers” from their parent’s remarriage.
Whilst promoting the series, Jennifer spilled a bit about her new romance saying she had a hard time wrapping her head around being in a relationship with Marcus Zhang at first when they’ve been friends for so long. She said he “is very good and hasn’t changed” but jokes that the only thing that’s changed is “he’s gotten fat.” Her manager corrected, “he bulked up.” When they first reconnected, Marcus was quite aggressive in his pursuit while she had a great impression of him. It’s been over half a year, and when the topic predictably veered towards getting married, the 45-year-old actress smiled and said, “let’s see”.
