Oh hey, here’s another case of mistaken identity when Netizens mistook Japanese voice actor Joji Nakata (中田讓治) for Hong Kong actor David Chiang Tai-wai aka John Gor (姜大衞). The 69-year-old voice talent popped up a photo of himself attending an exhibition the other day sporting a simple white tee with a pair of shades on. As the look is something David would totally wear, Netizens really thought it was David. But then that tote bag decorated with anime characters seem to be a dead giveaway that it isn’t him after all.
Joji Nakata is a talented voice artist who has voiced various characters not just in anime and but also in video games. In fact, if you’re a big fan of either of those two, chances are you’ve probably heard his voice one way or another. Some of his more popular works include Alucard in Hellsing, Giroro in Sgt. Frog as well as the character Kirei Kotomine in Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero etc. Aside from also narrating animated works, Joji also dubbed foreign films into Japanese for films like Sex and the City, 300 and even The Little Mermaid.
Meanwhile, 75-year-old David Chiang is a martial arts star and director with a whole slew of films and dramas under his belt. He has his very own star in Hong Kong’s Avenue of the Stars honouring famous Hong Kong celebrities in film. What do you guys think? Brother from another mother? Or … not.
