Nominations for the upcoming Golden Globe Awards went out on the 12th and guess who’s on the shortlist for Best Actress? Malaysian born actress Michelle Yeoh, 60, snagged a Best Actress for a Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy nomination for her action comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once. This is one of the film’s six nominations which include Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan who played her onscreen husband, Best Supporting Actress for Jamie Lee Curtis as well as Best Director of a Motion Picture, Best Screen Play and Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is what you get when you put a “multiverse of madness” on steroids. Except at its core is an immigrant Chinese family exploring family relationships. Michelle plays Evelyn Wang who discovers the multiverse, where quirky parallel versions of her life and different futures are explored given different choices made.

This is also the first time Michelle Yeoh has been nominated for a Golden Globe. And she’s in great company too! Also in the running are Lesley Manville (Mrs Harris Goes to Paris), Margot Robbie (Babylon), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Menu) and the great Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande).
