Award-winning Malaysian singer-songwriter Gary Chaw who’s known for many hit songs recently made headlines due to his angry outburst caught on camera while he was at a restaurant in Taipei.
Gary Chaw’s First Response Regarding His Angry Outburst
As the topic drew attention, Gary took to social media to say that he will keep silent. He said he’ll let the Taiwan police handle things according to law and he’s willing to bear the consequences. He added, “I hope the person can make a statement rather than unilaterally leaking the video. This would distort the truth.” He also said he won’t be responding on the matter again and thanked everyone for their love and concern.
Urging the Person Who Leaked the Video to Come Forward Or Else
A day after the incident, Gary Chaw is back on social media for the second time to express his dismay and his intention to sue. He wrote, “Due to a leak from an unidentified source, different major media outlets made their reports before really trying to understand the truth what happened. I am very disappointed and sad about the actions of the person who leaked the video and the media who reported without fully understanding the matter. The person must come forward to prove their identity and make a statement. With dignity. Otherwise, I will do my best to find you. To sue.”
At the start of the 1:50 minute-long clip going around online, a man can be heard throwing some things. He then shouts a string of profanities mostly in English. He repeatedly says something along the lines of, “”f* b*tch,” “what the f* did I do,” “call the f* police you f* b*,” “I’m in the right here, what the f* are you gonna do.” At the end of the video, a woman can be heard saying a drunk man is making trouble in what appears to be a recording of her call to the police.
According to Taiwanese media, music producer Michael Tu (凃惠源) who was with his wife having a meal together with Gary Chaw explained what happened. He said that the customers in the other room were too loud. Gary told them to “keep quiet” but they got louder. When the group was paying their bill, Gary pulled down the curtain. It seems the misunderstanding started there. The other side said some things that set Gary off on a rant.
