At 67, veteran screen legend Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia has in recent years been the subject of rumours claiming that she and her 72-year-old billionaire husband Michael Ying have called it quits. In 2018, speculation broke out that the couple’s 24 year marriage has ended with Brigitte allegedly receiving HKD 2 billion (US$ 256 million) in alimony. Back then, Brigitte straight up denied this and said that her family is very happy. Last week, her response to a comment online inadvertently revealed the status of her marriage, quelling chatter that she and Michael have divorced.
Taking to social media to wish everyone good health and a prosperous year of the tiger, Brigitte also engaged with some of her followers in the comments section. One of her followers commented “big sis, please marry me” to which she replied, “your sis is a married woman. Cannot take a wife or marry”. Guess that answers the question in case anyone is wondering if she and Michael Ying are still together.
Over the years, reports that the couple’s marriage is on the rocks have repeatedly surfaced given how rarely they’ve been seen in each other’s company. At one point, there were even rumours that Brigitte’s reconciled with her ex, Taiwanese actor Chin Han, with whom she co-starred with in the 1990 film Red Dust. Brigitte Lin and Michael Ying have three daughters including their eldest from Michael’s previous marriage.
