After a year and a half of making music and memories together, it’s now time to bid adieu to the ladies of THE9. The group announced their disbandment yesterday, December 5, with many of the ladies paying a special tribute to their time together on their own social media pages.
“Last night, the members together with the staff and good friends who’ve worked with us, wished each other a happy graduation. We cherish our time together. There are so many things that are hard to leave behind” wrote Esther Yu Shuxin. For her own tribute, THE9’s centre Liu Yuxin expressed her belief that each of the members will continue to shine on – THE9 is a beam of limitless light. “THE9 on fire all night”. From this day forward, nine colours will continue to shine.
Meanwhile, a grateful Snow Kong Xue’er expressed her thanks to everyone –fans, friends, staff and the team at iQiyi for their support. To her bandmates, Snow wrote “The 8 of you are very important to me. You are friends, and also family! Only the 9 of us know what we have experienced together. I am not a person of many words, but we THE9 were really good together. Grateful to have met this group of ladies, to have had experienced this finite and warm dream. To have known each other has been a miracle in itself.”
Not one to leave their fans hanging however, the ladies made sure to leave not just one, but two parting gifts to their many fans. First, THE9 released a self-titled EP to help end the news of their disbandment on a happier note. And, for their last hurrah together as group, fans can still catch all nine ladies in action as they make their way around the country for their graduation concert tour.
THE9 is an all female group made up of the nine winners of the reality survival show Youth With You 2. Officially debuting as a group in 2020, its members include Liu Yuxin, Esther Yu Shuxin, Xu Jiaqi, Yu Yan, Xie Keyin, An Qi, Zhao Xiaotang, Snow Kong Xue’er and K Lu Keran.

That’s weird that they literally just started their career as a group and now they’re disbanding. Was this supposed to happen? I didn’t follow the show or what the time of the contract of the group is. Hope the best for the girls tho.

It was supposed to happen but their contract seemed alot shorter than the group Rockets Girls had because they seemed like they were together for a long time.

Similar to groups formed from other survival shows that have trainees from all different companies compete, they were always just a temporary group. Their contract was for 18 months. Rocket Girls contract was 2 years. I think the Produce series generally have 2 year contracts, while Youth With You generally has 18-month contracts.
