Simu Liu brought home this year’s People’s Choice award for Best Action Movie Star for his portrayal of Shang-Chi in the MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Judging from his posts on social media, the 32-year-old actor couldn’t be any more excited for his win… although the excitement from him being sat next to Tom Hiddleston probably comes in a close second to the whole experience!
Marvel has done pretty well in the People’s Choice awards this year with three of its bets – Shang-Chi, Black Widow and Loki the TV series going home with multiple awards. Black Widow won Movie of the Year with its star Scarlett Johansson also taking home the award for the Female Movie Star of 2021. Likewise, Loki came up top for Show of 2021 with Tom nabbing the title of Male TV Star of 2021.
As for Shang-Chi, not only did Simu walk away with Best Action Movie Star, but the film also took home the prize for Action Movie of 2021. Even better is the announcement that Shang-Chi will indeed be getting a sequel after all.
Check out an ecstatic Simu who was all smiles following his big win as he hams it up for the media with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who went home with Male Movie Star of 2021 for his role in Jungle Cruise.
‘Twas a legendary night indeed.
