At age 20, Ouyang Nana has already lived in different places. She found success as a cellist in Taiwan at a young age. In recent years, she has shifted her focus to the entertainment industry through acting and variety shows in Mainland China. Work and school has taken Ouyang Nana to Philadelphia, Boston, Beijing and Shanghai where she would often rent a place with her mom and younger sister.

In Nana’s recent vlog, she reveals that she has signed a 1-year-lease for her very first apartment. Her new place which is around 40 square meters is at an old apartment building in Shanghai. It was previously an art studio which is why there were easels and painting materials when she did a mini house tour to show the living room, kitchen and a small washroom. She said that it will be a big project to clean up, buy furniture and decorate and that she’s really excited to get started. In her second video shot two months later, Ouyang Nana begins unpacking all the things she bought from Taobao. Together with her friends, the living room starts to take shape with a new shelf, a couch, a white desk and a TV. With Ouyang Nana documenting every step of her house makeover, viewers can look forward to the finished product.

Do you mean to say her new apartment is 40 square meters? China uses square meters but US uses square feet. If it is only 40 square feet, that space will only fit a dining table. Even if 40 square meters, it is very tiny place and I wonder how come she cannot even effort a one bedroom apartment.

*sorry typo above “I wonder how come she cannot even afford a one bedroom apartment.” i.e. Her management company taking a lot of cut from her?
