Congratulations to Chinese model Liu Wen! Just in time for International Women’s Day, Barbie released a brand new doll featuring Liu Wen in the stunning seafoam green Zac Posen gown she stepped out in for the Met Gala back in 2014.

Sharing the news on her social media including a photo of herself holding her very own Barbie, the model said “no matter how my identity changes, I am unique amongst thousands of women. Thank you @Barbie. Granting me the distinction of 2021’s ‘SHE-ro’; preserving yourself, loving ardently, believing in your limitless possibilities and challenging yourself to the fullest expresses the strength we all embody. You are your very own heroine. Wishing everyone a happy international women’s day!

Liu Wen is the first Asian model to have her own likeness immortalised in the form of a Barbie. In the past decade, Barbie has been putting more effort towards diversity and inclusivity. Whereas she used to be only slim, blond and blue-eyed during our childhood, she can now be seen in all shapes and sizes, skin tones and hair styles to better reflect the women of today.
