It appears that the trend of dramas and movies getting themselves Korean makeovers is on an uptick.
The latest film making its way across the pond for a Korean reboot is the 2007 Taiwanese film Secret 不能说的秘密, Jay Chou’s directorial debut film that tells the story of Xiaoyu played by actress Gui Lun Mei who travels through time to make the acquaintance of Jay Chou’s Xianglun and the mysterious piano melody that bridges them together across time and space.
As early as 2017, there have already been talks that Secret might be getting a Korean reboot. Today’s announcement certainly confirms that rumour. For its Korean remake, the fantasy romance film announced today that it will star EXO member D.O. also known as Do Kyung Soo who is set to play Jay Chou’s character Xianglun. Seems D.O. is off to a running start after having just completed his mandatory military service a mere few weeks ago!
Meanwhile, casting for the actress who will play Xiaoyu is pretty much up in the air as production still has to audition actresses for the role of D.O.’s love interest in the film. Supposedly, filming is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2021.
