An anonymous caller had reported Wang Yibo (王一博) to the cops while he was taking a break from filming in Hengdian. His agency Yue Hua Entertainment (乐华娱乐) has released a statement to explain that the incident happened on the eve of December 26, 2020.
Upon receiving the call, the police arrived at the scene at first instance. Wang Yibo fully cooperated with the investigation and was proven innocent, thereby proving that the fake police report was a deliberate criminal act. The case has been turned over to lawyers at Beijing Xingquan Law Firm (北京星权律师事务所). The statement further says that both Wang Yibo and his agency are shocked and indignant over the abusing of police resources. Wang Yibo has always been a law-abiding citizen and his agency will be sure to pursue legal action towards malicious attempts to defame the artist.
With Wang Yibo’s rise in popularity, he has had to deal with his fair share of stalkers, yet it seems that the absurd things that anti-fans do just keep getting worse. Wang Yibo took to social media to say: “Evil cannot prevail over good! Evil cannot prevail over good! Evil cannot prevail over good! Those who like me and those who hate me must all abide by the law! Obey the law! Obey the law!!!”
Update Dec 28: In a statement from the Dongyang City Police, they have identified the anonymous caller as a certain Ms. Xing (female, 31 years old) who has been diagnosed with a history of mental illness. The police will act in accordance with the law.
