It was just a matter of time really.
With all the outrageous stunts overzealous daipai have been known to pull, yesterday’s unfortunate altercation was bound to happen sooner or later. As one of the most highly anticipated dramas to be filmed this year, the set of the Leo Luo Yunxi and Arthur Chen Feiyu led Immortality/Haoyixing 皓衣行 has been beleaguered by daipai and sisheng fan crashing its filming locations and damaging property. Yet despite the lengths the show’s production have gone to keep filming under wraps with not even a single official photo released of both actors, the disruptive antics to catch a glimpse of the set continue, generally causing a big delay (and being a nuisance) for everyone.
Well yesterday, it seems one of the drama’s field crew has had enough. From media reports, it appears a fight erupted with punches being thrown – in fact there’s even a disturbing gif floating around of a man getting punched.

A statement from the show’s production has already been issued to apologise for the crew member involved in the fight, and it has also said that the involved crew has already been dismissed. According to the press release, filming had to be halted for nearly an hour when the cast and crew were cornered by a large group of daipai attempting to take shots at a close range. A daipai then injured one of the crew’s finger and even threw stones at him, thus causing the crew member to retaliate. The two parties then went to the police station for mediation with several onlookers taking the initiative to follow the involved parties and providing testimony as well as video of the incident. Prior to this, the Immortality crew had already expressed their clear boycott against daipai running amok and disrupting on-going filming on their set.

UPDATE: Furthermore, they’ve revealed details collated by the police that said: The altercation occurred on July 5 around 11:20, staff called the police. Around 12:30, both parties were taken to Yongkang city station. After police conducted their investigation, both parties were sent to the hospital for a medical inspection. After the results were released at 17:00 and through the mediation by the police, both parties have agreed not to pursue the case. Both parties will not be asking for compensation and will be responsible for treating their own injuries. Both parties have signed their names in the agreement. Their statement also said, “With regards to the litigant providing information to self-media (自媒体) to claim that the production has paid off daipai to provide false statements to the police, the production has retained evidence and will take legal action.”
I have to admit, I’m not really surprised at all since measures from overzealous daipai and sisheng fans have been getting more extreme by the minute. That, coupled with a team already exhausted from the constant harassment, surely is a disaster waiting to happen.
