Without much further ado, the Chinese live-action Chang Ge Xing 长歌行 finally reveals its official lineup of the quintet composed of Dilraba Dilmurat, Wu Lei, Liu Yuning, Zhao Lusi and Alan Fang Yilun.
Based on the hugely successful and award winning manhua of the same name created by author Xia Da and set during the Tang dynasty, Dilireba plays the princess Li Chang Ge. Daughter of a prince, Li Chang Ge escapes the palace and hides her identity disguised as a man after her family is killed. Hoping to raise an army to avenge her family’s murder, she makes her way to Youzhou where she makes the acquaintance of Leo Wu Lei’s character Ashina Sun in disguise.

After three and a half months of filming, today’s announcement comes with a bonus of accompanying comparisons between the drama and the manhua. What do you guys think? Not bad right? Why even down to Dilireba’s mole it’s uncanny (except lol it’s on the wrong side of the face).

Also, I know everyone has had mixed feelings about the role of Ashina Sun going to Wu Lei instead of Qu Chuxiao who was originally rumoured to have been cast. Looking at Wu Lei in character, he doesn’t appear to be too baby faced which I know was a concern for some folks who think he looks too young for Dilireba when the pairing was first announced. Now that you’ve gotten a first look, do you still think Wu Lei was miscast? All the leads in the live-action Chang Ge Xing look impressive thus far and it’s pretty clear that the drama’s production team put in a lot of effort to stay faithful to the original visuals.
