Fated to Love You which starred Joe Chen and Ethan Juan quickly became a big hit when it aired in Taiwan in 2008. It was extremely popular all over Asia that it spawned a Thai and Korean adaptation. After all these successes, a Chinese remake is making its way to the small screen. You Are My Destiny 你是我的命中注定 is a 36-episode drama starring Xing Zhaolin, Liang Jie, Li Jiulin and Fu Jing from Rocket Girls.
It’s worth mentioning that aside from the title change, the character names Chen Xinyi and Ji Chunxi from the original have been replaced and there also seems to be changes to the plot.

You Are My Destiny revolves around Chen Jiaxin, a newbie art director who meets Wang Xiyi, the heir to a vast business empire on a cruise ship heading for Hungary who mistakenly end up in one room and end up getting married. Chen Jiaxin gets pregnant and she chooses to devote herself to being a housewife. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned and she suffers a miscarriage. Left hurt and scarred by the incident, she leaves Wang Xiyi. After a series of hardships, she has a chance meeting with her ex husband. Will she be able to patch things up with her ex and get another shot at happiness?

Xing Zhaolin and Liang Jie are better known as The Eternal Love couple, and it’s easy to imagine Xing Zhaolin playing the role of the entitled businessman. Liang Jie may not have an impressively long list of shows to her name, but her charming simplicity seems perfect for the role of Chen Jiaxin.

The plot may seem a little different but they all do seem to look the part with Xing Zhaolin’s corporate executive meeting Liang Jie attempting to be sticky note girl in those glasses. The ballerina certainly brings back memories of the second lead we probably all loathed at one point and Dylan – somehow I still wish it were Baron Chen. With both Xing Zhaolin and Liang Jie playing opposite each other again, I expect their great onscreen chemistry and banter to give our hearts a tug and a laugh.
