It’s been over six months since the untimely passing of Godfrey Gao but the late Taiwanese-Canadian actor will never be forgotten for his gentleness and warmth. With his final work, We Are All Alone, premiering last night (June 8), it was just timely to commemorate the life he lived especially the work he put in filming this drama.

We Are All Alone is based on a Chinese novel of the same title by Wei Zai, who also paid tribute to the actor who personified Mo Bei (character) in her work. Together with the photo below, she addressed the rumors circulating again lately regarding Godfrey’s scenes getting cut out of the drama. In which she wrote, “I always thought that the greatest respect for an actor is to show his efforts in the best way, to retain his image in the best quality, in order to live up to his hard work and talent.”
She clarified once and for all that none of those rumors are true. Moreover, Godfrey Gao will appear in front of everyone as Mo Bei just like how it was written in her novel. She hopes that everyone can remember him for a very long time.

In another tribute released by the drama production team, it showed the actor from his first day of filming, studying his script, presenting gifts to fans when they visited the set and up to the last day when 3 months of filming wrapped on August 28, 2019. The 8-minute video highlighted the adjectives that people who have met him would consistently use to describe him: warm and gentle.

One very helpful advice that I can give you is to prepare a box of tissues when watching the drama’s tribute to their male lead. Whether you’re a fan of Godfrey like me or not, your heart will just effortlessly feel a tinge of sadness realizing that a ray of sunshine like him is not with us anymore. The good thing about it is we still have this final drama of his to enjoy and to be grateful for.

Me too. It was so hard to watch both the drama and the tribute but I'm glad I watched it. Yes, it was a good first episode actually! It left a huge impression on me. Thank you for coming here and dropping a comment too!

Yup, it's been so hard to accept that even as fans *sighs*. Missing him a lot!

You are welcome. I bet it's bittersweet for his family that the drama is airing – but it reminds them of his passing. Hopefully they are all doing ok.
