Taiwanese actor Joe Cheng once again finds himself having to go through the whole brouhaha of clarifying his sexual orientation when old photos of him with actress Bai Bing’s ex-husband Ding Yi resurfaced on the internet. Some of you may have already seen the black and white photos (or the video) paps shot of him acting very affectionately with his male friend on a night out with friends whom Taiwanese media later identified as Ding Yi. As expected, the star’s touchy feely photos with Ding Yi ignited a maelstrom of speculation about his sexuality which his rep immediately shot down, saying that Joe was a warm person and is very affectionate to his friends.
Rumours about whether the It Started With a Kiss actor is gay or not is nothing new. But the actor has always always maintained that he’s not gay and that “everyone knows he likes girls”. I don’t know what the deal is and why these photos surfaced once again. Maybe it’s because Bai Bing recently revealed she got divorced in an episode of the survival show Sisters Who Make Waves 乘风破浪的姐姐 that people thought Joe was the third party in her marriage? That doesn’t seem to be the case though since a year after those black and white photos surfaced, Bai Bing even shared a happy photo of the Legend of Heavenly Tear: Phoenix Warriorscast hanging out together on social, giving credence to the fact that she doesn’t seem to be bothered at all by Joe.
But whatever it is, it seems Joe Cheng has had it with these rumour mongering folks.
“I had to sit right up after having just laid down to bed. Yuck! *spits out a bullet*. These rumours always crop up at least once a week?? I’ve already responded to these odious shots taken by paparazzi. Enough is enough. ? I’ll say it again: I like girls! I’ll say it again three times (so you get it in your head)! I’ll see you in court!” writes a fed up Joe Cheng on social media.
Indeed, the actor clearly means business as his studio also released a statement from his lawyers demanding people to cease the online slander and to immediately delete content and posts causing the misunderstanding. People who persist in the slander can expect to find themselves slapped with a hefty lawsuit as legal measures will be taken to pursue legal responsibility.
