Ding Yuxi sharing his newly released music video with Zhang Yuxifor their drama Intense Love on social media seems to have unexpectedly drawn a little bit controversy from Netizens, but not for the usual reasons. Ever since appearing in the drama The Romance of Tiger and Rose with Zhao Lusi, the actor has been generating some buzz in the entertainment industry. And it appears having an MV for Intense Love and none for The Romance of Tiger and Rose have left some Netizens in a snit because they say the drama that garnered him a lot of attention and really put his name on the map should’ve been the one to get an MV.
Wow I never thought this could be an issue but there you are. Seems this is indirectly turning out to be a battle of the couple pairings (CP) since both dramas aired in May. While some comments on the video have been quite supportive, shippers of the Chen Xiaoqian – Han Shuo couple have ranged from being nice about the whole thing, merely asking when an MV will be made, to some being downright mean.

Netizens have also pointed out that his management company doesn’t know what it’s doing -“your company is quite hilarious, pitting two of your dramas against each other with similar release dates” said one commenter and most solid shippers have chided him to be a bit more grateful to the pairing that put the spotlight on his career. “Chen Xiaoqian fans are heartbroken” said one commenter while another asked “why isn’t there one for Han Shuo and Xiaoqian? I can’t accept it!”.
In his recent livestream, Ding Yuxi seemingly responds to the criticisms – “There is always a place in my heart for each of the characters I’ve played. They will never leave me. They occasionally run back to pay me a visit… and see how I have been… I miss them.” At this point the actor got a bit choked up and teary eyed saying “Han Shuo and Xiao Qian will live quite happily in that world.”
I have to admit I kinda feel bad for Ding Yuxi because I’m sure he put in a lot of effort to film the music video. Imagine putting your heart and soul into a project only to have it critiqued for an unrelated reason? I totally get why he teared up a bit on the livestream. But anyway, The Romance of Tiger and Rose does have something extra up its sleeve for fans – it’s not a music video but the drama is releasing easter eggs from today onwards up to the 15th for everyone to enjoy ….. so maybe this entire brouhaha was all for naught?

But I read that the IL fans were the ones that started to fight with TROTAR fans on weibo. Saying TROTAR is riding on IL's coattails and so on. They even went so far to insult Zhao Lu Si on one of Ding Yu Xi's livestreams. 🙁
Usi
Tiger Rose is on Intense Love coattails? Seriously? They are delusional since Intense Love is below the popularity of Tiger Rose who was Tencent’s most popular Webdrama the last weeks even though I think YAM will change that soon.
JC
What's YAM?
Anonymous
The only drama that is airing currently that closes to YAM is "You Are My Destiny". I could be wrong about this.

I like him. He is a good actor. Why can't people just be happy for him that he is doing well? His other two previous dramas are really good also.
Lil
I like him too but if Lusi is involved there’s trouble it’s the same with her and Dilrada there’s always comparison being made it seems Lusi fans and most likely Lusi herself can’t handle competition or the spotlight not on her Ryan Ding is great and Dilrada is way better than Lusi in both looks and talent that’s my answer to Lusi fans

Weibo screenshots show the opposite. Also, they went to Zhang Yuxi's weibo and insulted her there. One comment on Ding Yuxi's weibo went as far as saying "You need to wake up. Tiger & Rose brought you fame". Some toxic shit right there. Don't care which CP fan started what, they're all toxic.

@ 1.c
You are right. Why can't people just be happy for the actor/actresses if they are doing well? Some of these fans are just sick people.
Anonymous
Lmao… they are as toxic as some kpop band fans… why they fought over this? Haha.. this is so hilarious. Btw did Trotar finish??? Cuz im waiting for the eng sub and they hvnt release ep 19.

THIS! I hate how IL fans acted like the victim here as if they didn't do anything wrong. When TROTAR blew up,they insulted Lusi saying she doesn't fit Ding Yuxi and that she's ugly and fat. That's why Ding Yuxi replied to one of the haters saying Lusi is not fat and that he can't carry more than 45 kg. It all happened in MAY.
Both sides are at fault but IL fans aren't as innocent as some thought they are. Now they have the audicy to accuse TROTAR fans for starting this. They screenshot TROTAR fans' comments on weibo and created a hashtag about it and bought hot searches for it to trend on weibo ALMOST EVERYDAY while TROTAR fans are busy voting on sina awards instead. Maybe if they exerted their efforts on votings instead.
Anonymous
The weibo screenshots are created by IL fans so of course it would be biased, they won't show their ugly side, you can't trust it. Try searching ZLS's name on weibo and you'll see how ugly IL fans are too.
They're both petty, IL fans esp Zhang Yuxi fans should stop acting like they're the only victim here. Good for them TROTAR fans aren't bored enough to screenshot comments and create a hashtag against the other party like them. Let's see how the tables would turn once CQQ fans do so.

I watched both dramas though I never got around to finishing neither of them. I watched IL first and DY looked super good looking in his doctor white coat and suits, but I got farther in terms of episodes with TROTAR. Personally, I think TROTAR is more popular than IL when you look at the drama ranking on WB. I do think that DY's popularity boomed even more after TROTAR too. As for LZS, I have seen the rude comments many people have post about her more than her fans going for ZY/IL but idk either. Anyways, both sides need to chill and just do what they need to do and that is to support DY, LZS, and ZY.

It's finished.
Usi
Yes, sorry Autocorrect cut off the D >.<.
Anonymous
I don't like how this article is putting the blame on TROTAR fans.
As if IL fans are innocent. And it's not just DYX who is a victim in this whole situation.

@ Usi
Thanks for clarifying it. Autocorrect can be annoying sometimes.
wanderlust
@1d and @1f, It's only a fucking drama. Why do y'all act like you know the ins and outs of this mess? Y'all reading the same shit on weibo. How do you know people you're supporting aren't buying hot searches? Pointing fingers back and forth lol. What are we in, primary school? The only victim here is Ding Yuxi who has to deal y'all and the ignorant fans who think they own his career.

My reply was meant for 1e and 1f only. Sorry 1d, not you, I agree with you.

Ever since the Xiao Zhan incident I don't trust extreme fans anymore they might just be some jealous fans somewhere who hate the popularity of TROTAR and this male lead's sudden fame overnight. Zhao Lusi is also finally gaining more popularity, maybe some of her extreme fans are fake and just trying to drag her down.
Becareful, next thing these fake fans might do could be attacking DLRB's looks or acting skills with her because they are collaborating. Or they could try attacking just anybody working with her, maybe they will even fight for her salary and top bill status too. These fake fans are antis in disguise, pretending to argue for their idol but actually make them look bad.

@ 7
I agree with you. There are too many crazy people. We don't know who these "fans" are. I feel sorry for these artist sometimes.

How could anyone hate Zhou Lusi? She has chemistry with pretty much every male lead she is the star on. She chooses really good dramas, and she can act well. All her dramas has been popular, with many dramas as web dramas that has brought so much buzz.
Haven't heard much web dramas that created buzz without it being a story about "BL" — not against BL, but for a romance drama that competes with mainstream high budget TV dramas, Zhou Lusi is the it girl in creating buzz on lower budget webdramas as much as those on broadcast TV.
As far as the Music Video, really? Fans are so crazy! I mean, if he used another girl for the Title song of the Tiger and Rose then I can understand some of the criticism, but sometimes the MV doesn't use the same actress anyways in the past an and no one has issues, as well, Drama is Drama, song is song, two separate things.
When will the crazy fans grow up and just let the Artist and the agent make their own decision.
Clearly, people sitting behind the keyboard has no idea on the in and outs of actually being out there working and hustling on contracts and projects.
Anonymous
They hate her bc her popularity is growing. Meaning she is going to soon replace the people who are currently popular now, it's competition. She made it to top 10 most billable list already. Her next projects are looking very good too so they need to get rid of her before she can grow any bigger than this.

8.a agreed. But real talk, I know this is going to cause a lot of controversy, but I honestly don't 100% blame people for hating on ZLS or any other up and coming actress because of how they are getting popular so fast. Popular actresses today like YM and ZLY had to work really hard to get where they are today while the youngsters nowadays get a support role in a hit drama and immediately is invited to take on a main role. Like, they don't have any acting experience but they take up a project that explodes in popularity and suddenly BOOM! they're super popular. I know we're in "modern" times now but it just doesn't make sense to me.
I haven't watched any ZLS dramas so I can't say anything about her acting skills – who knows, she could be awesome – but according to mydramalist her first drama was in 2018. That's … that was not even two years ago. so I guess it's kind of understandable that people are upset.
Of course I am not defending the haters though, what they're doing is wrong.
Anonymous
Why would you think it doesn't make sense?
There's nothing wrong with getting fame overnight. Liu Yifei was so beautiful and talented that she got famous so quickly. It wasn't like she didn't deserve it. For some people, it just really doesn't need to take a long time to fall in love with them. And some people, usually the less pretty, they take a longer route because people have to get used to them first. I don't see why it's wrong, sometimes it is just what it is. Like at work, some people learn fast and slow, the fast learner just get promotion first it makes sense. In the acting entertainment, good look is a huge requirement so it sounds bad, but whoever looks better get promotes first.
If you look at Chinese Paladin 1, everybody in it actually got their fame within 1 shot. Nothing wrong at all. Esther Liu doesn't even do dramas anymore but lots of people still remember her name and face. She wasn't pretty, but she was on a good production and her performance was well received so she's remembered.
ZLS didn't just get popular overnight though, she was only a second lead when she started and wasn't that pretty especially in Cinderella Chef. She only get to starred in low budget web dramas and played the same roles repeatedly. Even TROTR is still only a web drama, the reason why it propelled her is because the directing and scripting is much better this time. She updated her looks too, she lose weight for the role and I admit she looks prettier now.
When people first saw Yang Mi they thought her face was weird in a pretty way. Not the prettiest, but good looking enough. She proved herself through acting and having a good personality and leadership. After starring in multiple good projects, people got custom to her looks, her face became on of the prettiest Chinese faces. She didn't get good projects right away, or all the time, that's why there are ups and downs in her career.
In the past Zhao Liying wasn't pretty at all that's why she had an even longer route than the rest of actresses her age. I highly doubt she will be famous at all if she didn't update her looks. Anybody can star in a really good project, but if they don't have that LOOK they will never get anywhere. Like Eternal Love Of Dream, imagine if Dilireba didn't play Feng Jiu but that second lead girl Liu yuefei played Feng Jiu instead. I guarantee you nobody gonna care if the story is good at that point, but will only look at how ugly she is. An actor can be in a good project but if they ugly, doesn't work either.
Good production and good look go hand in hand.
The recipe for success in C-acting is
1. Luck
2. Looks
3. Talent
You can have talent, but if you don't look good, nobody will look at you how would they see your talent?
You can have looks, even if your talent is bad, people will see you.
You can have both looks and talents together but if you have no luck (connections) there is no way you will be famous because you don't get to be in a production that is good.
In the past ZLS had talent and looks but never the luck, once the luck came in she gets a good role (TROTAR), that's why she is popular now. If she did not have this luck, she can keep starring in 10 more bad productions, she will still get nowhere even in 10 years even with good looks and skills.
The actor have to be in a good production but also look good, and bonus if they have talent.
But I won't underestimate looks, sometimes seeing ZLY, she is a game changer. I'd seen her in many bad productions but who cares how bad the productions are if she looks good and can act? These days if fans can stand up for an idol to the point it affect the production's success in a positive way, their recipe would be
1. Looks
2. Talent
3. Production

8.b I'm sorry but you sound narrow minded.
"I honestly don't 100% blame people for hating on ZLS or any other up and coming actress because of how they are getting popular so fast."
– Why is getting popular fast bad? BC ZLY couldn't be famous right away?
"I know we're in "modern" times now but it just doesn't make sense to me."
– This has nothing much to do with moderness. But I think more modern we are the more we should be open minded.
About YM and ZLY.
YM was popular really quickly, through such a famous role like Guo Xiang in 2006 and casting alongside somebody famous like LYF, she was really popular almost right away. Just not to the point like she can conquer dramaland right away of course. After she played Guo Xiang, the amount of love she got was only like the love Zhao Lusi gained right now. YM played about 6 roles before Guo Xiang. Just like Zhao Lusi who played about the same amount before Qianqian.
ZLY already played leading role ever since 2010 in The Amateur Imperial Body Guard. Even though the drama was unpopular, she casted with really well known people like Xu Zheng and Yu Bo. The following year 2011 she played Princess Qing'er, even though it wasn't the main lead it was still a really huge role. The 8-10 dramas she did before taking leading roles are all considered nothing, they didn't even show case what a good actress she was or anything. Some of those dramas she was only in it for a few episodes or worse, a few minutes. By the time she got her big leading roles, it was even more sudden than the actresses today you think that got popular too quickly. It wasn't like ZLY was anywhere near someone for example, Yan Rong who did support roles 5 or 6 times but each time she really proved her acting. It was also nothing like YM who played a very small support role like Guo Xiang and got liked from there. The support roles ZLY did were not worth mentioning honestly, it only showed she was in the industry since a long time, but it didn't show how she improve her skills. In other words, nobody liked ZLY from her support roles, they only liked her in leading roles. Moreover, YM leaded more than 5-6 really good dramas before she can conquer dramaland. In fact, ZLY conquer dramaland way faster than YM. It is true that she is only a year younger than YM but she is 5 years of popularity behind YM. But YM is a child actress and probably have more professional connections. Besides YM was good looking since young age. ZLY didn't look good when young. In The Amateur Body Guard 2010 her face was wide in a bad way. Within a year later in Princess Qing'er 2011 she made her wide face turn into a cute bun instead of it being plain wide and round. Honestly it was her looks that finally got her some attention so fast. If she done that earlier she would been popular sooner. It's not anyone's fault. Doesn't mean everyone have to take a very long road to popularity to be considered more serious or better.

Of course I don't think getting popular quick/overnight is a crime, like who decides that lol. As usual, I should've picked my words more carefully to avoid misinterpretation. Sorry 🙁
I guess I kind of got sidetracked and kinda went onto a different topic. What I was trying to say was that young inexperienced actors are being cast as main roles way too easily, which is where there are getting their popularity from. Of course I don't want to change the way the industry works or anything, I just think maybe you should get some more experience before taking on a big role? Like back in the olden days?
Why I feel sorry for older actresses is because the industry now wants pretty, young girls/boys for their dramas. Whenever I watch movies/dramas that were made in the early 2000s, most of their leads are 40+ because what they want is different. Romance is a huge genre nowadays and of course seeing a bunch of 50 year olds fit that isn't exactly the most exciting lol. They probably grew up thinking that when they grow older they will be invited to take on main roles, but times have changed and now it's the opposite. So they're kind of stuck in the middle.
Of course this doesn't apply much to popular actresses like YM and ZLY, I'm just saying in general.
@8.d What I was trying to say about the whole modern thing (I should've explained) is that 1) social media now makes it so much easier for people and productions to become popular and 2) like I said, make people want pretty little young leads.
By the way, I'm not really talking about ZLS, because I don't know much about her, but younger actors in general.
I wasn't trying to blame anybody, just had to had a rant, sorry if it mad you uncomfortable 🙁

Since Chinese dramas make advertising money per episode, young and good looking are the norm nowadays for idols. Talent seems to be be third. That is why the trend is getting seasoned older actresses to work with much younger leading men. Not that the younger actors cannot act. Some can act even better than the seasoned older actresses. For example, Dilreba cannot act better than Wu Lei (Leo Wu). I have seen most of Direba's projects and none can compare to Nirvana in Fire. This is where Leo Wu/Fei Liu had little dialog and had to act with his actions and facial impressions.
Anonymous
Comparing male to female makes no sense. Male have to act male-ly and female has to act female-ly. Comparing Dili Reba with any other idol actresses who are always doing the same genres of dramas like her, they all really just act the same style and nobody is better than nobody.
Anonymous
@Anon 8.e — The difference is that most of the actress/actors that can get lead roles almost out of the bat is because they graduated from schools that specializes in performance arts. Therefore, they already have the acting chops from the get-go due to so many years of intensive training.
We only take notice when there is a hit and think that it was overnight. They were probably in many dramas but served as a placement girl.
Tony Leung (Internationally Famous), Felix Wong, and others from the 80's 90's Hong Kong TVB golden years pretty much was given lead roles right when they graduated from TVB acting class. So, not sure what "olden" days you are talking about that actors and actress are not put in lead roles from the start of their career.
I always heard of the "IT" factor. Some people when they perform or on stage, there is a undeniable "IT" factor and they just make you take notice. It could be their looks, or their personality, or their charm, but they just have that "IT" factor, and sometimes it is not because they are the prettiest or the best looking either.
Anonymous
Anon 8.f Completely agree!
Anon 8.e Playing small roles first doesn't always mean actors will slowly gain experience. There had been actresses such as Gao Yuan Yuan who did not go to acting school and had no previous acting skills, she just jumped right into playing female lead right away and performed so well.
You used YM ZLY as examples, but you have to understand while ZLY played lots of small roles they didn't prove how she slowly improved her acting skills through those small roles. Her acting was not good at all until she took Yu Zheng's training classes and casted in his dramas. During the New Princess Pearl, while she was prettier than Hai Lu and Li Sheng, the director did not pick her to play Xiao Yanzi or Ziwei because she lacked abilities to perform during that time. She wasn't able to cry, and it is silly af how much they made the new Ziwei cried for no reasons every 10 seconds so she was lucky not to land that role anyway. With YM, she actually started with a small leading role and small supporting role, both at the same time. But she is different from ZLY, people actually love both her small role or leading role. Even though she quickly became a big female lead most of the time, she still goes back often to play small roles time to time.
So don't look down on small roles.
YM isn't the type of actress who would only play big roles and would think that playing a small role means bullying her or looking down on her. A small role exist because it's important, it's still a good role too, and good acting is still required all the time. It's not true that just because it's a small role it should be given to new people only and they can act horrible on it. No actors should ever teach their fans with such misconception, very unprofessional of them, they should learn from YM.

@8.g awww you have a really good point on that last paragraph. Now I feel kinda guilty :')

Well it's quite common for viewers to get caught up in dramas and sometimes start shipping the couple as their OTP. So it doesn't seem very smart to come out with a music video of a previous coupling while you have a current series playing. Well maybe his company didn't realize that the 2 dramas would be released so close to each other. Unfortunate but if he wants to become a big star he will need to deal with this. All the rising stars seem to have a lot of very vicious anti-fans. Sad and scary.

my gosh this article is childish, these comments are childish, This is why I hate fan culture. FANs are always the common denominator when it comes to celeb problems.
