With his career now focused in Mainland China, the last time Lay Zhang Yixing has taken the stage with his EXO bandmates was in 2017. Although he participated in their comeback in 2018, it was a brief one that saw him having only a few lines and frames added to their MV in post-production. To this day, many fans (myself included) still want to see them as a group. Heck, if I can’t have OT12, I’d at least want to keep my OT9 and what better way to make a fangirl’s heart flutter than to see some EXO love.
On the May 22 episode of the Chinese show CZR2 – I’m a Singer Songwriter 我是唱作人II where Lay is a contestant, he revealed that his cellphone wallpaper is actually his group’s photo. When a fellow contestant commented on it, he adds,”my lock screen is also of them.” He shares that they often meet when they’re in Korea. Director Che Che comments, “The thing with teams is..” Lay Zhang responds, “it’s quite beautiful.” While holding up his phone to show everyone that his screensaver was also his members, Lay shares that whenever they meet, they’d have this feeling, “Look, so much time has passed,” and they’d reminisce, chat, eat, play and drink.
Lay also mentioned EXO when asked if he has ever sung in weddings. He shares that he has done it before as he performed together with his group EXO when their manager was getting married.
Lay may be physically away from his fellow members who are in South Korea but he also participated in Suho’s military sendoff through social media. Suho is the third member of EXO to enlist after Xiumin who enlisted on May 7, 2019 and Do Kyungsoo (D.O.) who enlisted on July 1, 2019. Suho chose to keep his enlistment on May 14 a quiet affair though it was later revealed that Chanyeol, Chen, Kai, Baekhyun, and Sehun came to send him off as shown in a photo uploaded on Lysn. Although Lay wasn’t able to be there in person, he shared the same photo with a short message on his Instagram story that says, “Let’s love. Take care, leader.”

So sweet, i didnt miss OT12. I miss OT9. Hopefully they will perform again together after all members coming back from military.

Even though an OT12 reunion might not be possible anymore, but I would still like an OT9 reunion soon. I really miss Lay being back with exo
