Surprise! New stills just dropped today from Cecilia Liu Shishi and Ni Ni’s collaboration in their newest Chinese drama, My Best Friend’s Story 流金岁月, the TV remake of the 80s Hong Kong classic Last Romance. What do you guys think? Liu Shishi and Ni Ni’s version certainly captures the essence of the close relationship the two characters in the original story shared. And I really like how the warm tones of the photos kinda brings to mind the warmth of a close and loving friendship.

My Best Friend’s Story is ultimately a story of a lasting friendship forged between two beautiful women, who despite their differences in values, upbringing and their love for the same man, manages to endure. Liu Shishi plays Jiang Nan who, coming from a well off family craves finding happiness and love above all else. Meanwhile, Ni Ni’s Suo-suo only wants to be rich and uses her beauty and wiles to attain her goal.

Gonna be a lot of comparison!

Ni Ni and Liu Shi Shi are both queens! They had worked with beauties (or same level of popularity) like themselves before, Yang Mi, Tang Yan, AngelaBaby. So excited both are working together this time.
There will be comparisons with the movie of course, but this is drama not another movie.
If there are comparisons between Ni Ni and Liu Shi Shi, it’s obvious some antis are just jealous of the 2 queens working together. Pretending to make Ni Ni’s fans look bad by throwing shades at Liu Shi Shi who’s been acting for much longer, is a ruse to make others hate her like Xiao Zhan.
Haven’t seen Liu Shi Shi fans accusing others before. I’m still surprised how her fake Postpartum Depression article made it all the way to international fans (not once, multiple times!). She was accused so many times and none of international fans said anything. So if there is a sudden number of her fans starting to bad mouth Ni Ni then we know it’s not her real fans. Both actresses are the best and nobody’s dirty idea is gonna ruin them. Jia You!

Only heard good things about the collaboration so far. Why are you bringing up fake news? Ignore the hate and spread the love.

I think it’s gonna be apparent who’s the better actress if one underperforms. Let’s hope they’re equally as good.

Ur…I did not bring any fake news. Fake news were the articles saying Liu Shi Shi has Postpartum Depression multiple times both on this site as well as Jaynestars you can search that up yourself.
And what I estimate came true, some haters do want to pitch the ladies against each other (if you can see below). In the previous forum some people were bullying Liu Shi Shi. Some people hate these 2 ladies, one is the ex lover of Fengshao Feng and the other is another actress flourished both in career and life to be envied about. The movie version won big awards, this is a very good projects and some fans can’t stand seeing other actresses becoming successful. Both are such good actresses but some toxic fans keep wanting to pull down either one of them by comparing them together.

Even if the postpartum depression stuff were true, how is that an "accusation"? Being depressed is not a crime or a shameful moral failing. Depression is an illness, and it happens to a lot of women after they give birth. Treating it like a crime only makes the sufferers feel even worse. If Liu Shi Shi really did have PPD then I feel really bad for her, and I'm very sorry that people used it to bully her. And if she didn't have it, then good for her. But denying angrily it the way you, by saying that it's an "accusation," suggests that even her fans think depression is something shameful that has to be denied. I think we all need to be more understanding of people who suffer from depression and anxiety.

You should really do your research.
If I accuse you right now of having PPD, where exactly is my proof? Do I even know you? How can I know such a thing? That's exactly what happened with LSS. How exactly did they know such info? They installed cameras everywhere around her homes? It was totally baseless.
After I already accused you, I'm going to teach you what your illness is. Plus, I'm going to teach you how to be understanding of your illness. How is that not outrageous? If you already know you obviously don't have illness, and I keep forcing that upon you how would you feel too? Plus I publicly announced to the whole world? Put yourself in others shoes. First off, the accusation was already wrong from the beginning.
You don't understand this situation. It's not about understanding people who are suffering from illness. It's about accusation. If I accuse you right now, do we even need to dig into what that mental illness is and how we should be understanding of it? The preliminary statement, or accusation is already false from the start. If something can't even be confirmed, why dig further?
The next most important thing about this problem, it really isn't about the mental illness. It's only a tool of a fan war. Some actress's fans wanted their idol to remain a top biller, the requirement is to have a high gossip category. So they randomly choose another actress (LSS) to create a fan war in order to trend.
People in China knows it's a baseless rumor that only originated from fan wars. But why did 3 articles published on this site and also 3 articles in Jaynestars made it sound like it was a true thing internationally? Why didn't they cite their sources that this rumor was only based on fan wars? Only because LSS does not have as many crazy fans?
Just because these antis are a huge group both in China and internationally, and they can do whatever they want? Forget about what they started in the past. Right now, they are still not letting LSS go. Seeing her having a good project they keep wanting to say bad things about her. What's more annoying is how they're posing as Ni Ni's fan to make Ni Ni look bad too, killing 2 birds with one stone.

I found what you say to be really rude.
It's a drama of friendship. Not about competition in acting.
Besides, LSS acted with countless beauties and popular actresses her level. Yang Mi, Ariel Lin, Tang Yan, Tong Liya, etc. Many more! She never underperformed, or use her fans to compete with her co-actresses.
Ni Ni worked with many beautiful and popular actresses too and it was never a competition. She too did not underperform.

It would be more interesting if they play the opposite characters.
While they are both decent actors, I find Liu Shi Shi always play similar goody two shoe kinda of characters. So it would be more interesting if she's the one playing So So.
Ni Ni has the more adventurous appearance so I think it would up to anthe to be playing the girl next door Nancy instead.
That's why the movie version is interesting cos Maggie Cheung has the wild look but she played the nice girl. That's really testing her craft to portrayed something that is least expected out if her.

The thing about LSS, these articles say her break down is from her in law mistreatments. In chinese culture, being an unliked daughter in law is a slap on the face in your reputation.
Plus, they say her hospital bills are too cheap when compared with others.
Sounds so much more they were intending to make her look very petty, actually.

Thank you for explaining. In that case, I think it's terrible that anyone is using a serious illness as a weapon in a fan war. It does a disservice to the people who really are suffering from that illness because it makes them feel like their serious condition is scandalous.

I'm really only familiar with Ni Ni's work, but I've also heard very good things about Liu Shishi. AvenueX on YouTube is over the moon about them working together, and she's generally a very good judge of actors' abilities. I'm looking forward to the drama.

Ni Ni was already adventurous in her movie Suddenly 17 and Love Destiny. People will say she is always playing similar roles if she does that.
I don't mind. As long as they can play their parts professionally, I don't care how repetitive these ladies will get. I sense that people are getting the wrong idea lately, about how actresses should play different roles all the time.
Repetition of characters is not what matter. That's not what make actresses better or anything. It's the project as a whole that must be good. A good drama doesn't depend on the character's description. You can describe your character as smart, strong, undefying, unruly, etc. But if there isn't any plot revolving around them to make them reveal their potentials, those are only empty descriptions. The goal of acting is to make a story come to life. No matter what the description of a character is, the importance lies in the plot.

@3.e, I see! That gives me some context, thanks. Though now I feel rather bad for any woman who has a less than excellent relationship with her in-laws… If a woman (not LSS, but just any woman) is driven to a breakdown by her in-laws, she's the one who is faulted?

this is a drama remake of the original movie? I thought it was a movie remake? Well, I like both Nini and Shishi^^!!! I'm sure they're going to do excellent!
