Derek Chang and Luo Yutong Kicks Off Filming for Chinese Adaptation of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo remake
Filming season is definitely in full swing as news of the Chinese remake of South Korean hit drama Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo kicking off its boot ceremony just dropped earlier today. Tentatively entitled So It’s You (lit.)原来是你 in English, the drama will star Derek Chang and Luo Yutong as the Chinese counterparts of uber adorable couple Bok Joo and Joon Hyung from the original series.

Remakes of popular dramas have always had mixed reactions from viewers and frankly speaking I’m with the folks who are a wee bit iffy about remakes and re-adaptations in general especially when the original is a well loved one. Besides, why mess with a perfectly good thing if it ain’t broke. Other netizens are lamenting the need to make Chinese adaptations of foreign dramas as there’s bound to be a plethora of choice amongst the novels, stories and legends created domestically that they could make a series out from. What do you guys think? Can Luo Yutong and Derek Chang bring that super cute chemistry Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk had from the original into their adaptation?

PS. I’m wondering just how much the remake will remain faithful to the original story. I just took a look at the poster once again and saw that although Derek’s character is a swimmer just like Joon Hyung in the original, is that a martial arts uniform Luo Yutong is wearing?

so it
