Love of Thousand Years (2020)

We’ve all heard lines thrown where the protagonists would utter words like, “I’ll follow you till the end of time.” or “I will find you even in the next lifetime.” There are already a handful of stories where star-crossed lovers span not just one but two or even three lifetimes. But what if it’s not just three, but ten? Make it a thousand years of waiting and you’ll get the xianxia series Love of Thousand Years (The Killing of Three Thousand Crows lit.) 三千鸦杀.

Adapted from the novel by Shi Si Lang 十四郎, the 30-episode drama starring Zheng Yecheng and Zhao Lusi chronicles the life of Qin Chuan, a princess of the Great Yan who loses her nation. Because of this, she is forced to conceal her real identity and go in hiding. She meets Fu Jiuyun (Zheng Ye Cheng) whom without her knowledge, has been acting like a guarding angel, protecting her for ten lifetimes! When the exiled princess witnesses the slavery of her people, she promises to save them by searching for the spiritual lamp.

But like I said, you can’t be star-crossed lovers without the hurdle that lies ahead, one that requires them to make the ultimate sacrifice. Will Qin Chuan still choose her people at cost of the love of her life?

Having gotten attuned to seeing the two leads in light comedies like Zheng Yecheng in lET’s Shake It and Zhao Lusi who’s followed up her first starring role in Oh My Emperor with dramas like Love Better Than Immortality, Love of Thousand Years with its hints of a forbidden romance definitely seems like something different for both rising stars. We’re seeing more promos lately, hoping this airs soon!

Release Date: March 19, 2020 MGTV (two episodes every Thursday to Friday at 8pm, VIP watch a week’s episodes in advance)
