Whether you agree or not, there’s no denying that Train to Busan paved the way for Korean zombie films internationally.
It was such a huge hit that just after a month of its premiere, an animated prequel entitled Seoul Station was released. Afterwards, reports of a sequel came about and since then, many have been waiting for updates. If you’re one of them, then rejoice! Our patience has been rewarded because the sequel is gearing up for a summer release!
Peninsula, the sequel, is set four years after the horrific catastrophe has befallen mankind. Kang Dong Won and Lee Jung Hyun who star as the new main characters are shown to be hiding in an abandoned vehicle while armed with guns and preparing for the fight of their lives but can they fend off the bunches of walking dead in front of them?
Although it’s expected, it’s a bit sad that we don’t see any of the original cast members back. I was still half-hoping that Gong Yoo would miraculously survive or perhaps, his daughter would have become a zombie killing machine. Heh.
The animated series only showed how the zombies spread in Seoul but how the epidemic started has yet to be revealed. Will the upcoming film finally give the answers to our questions?
