And away we go for the new military drama My Dear Guardian (lit.) 亲爱的戎装 as the series breaks ground today in their kick off ceremony. The series will star actor Johnny Huang Jingyu as the cold hearted Special Forces commander Liang Muze who meets his match in the soft hearted military surgeon Xia Chu played by actress Li Qin. Kinda reminds one of the smash hit drama Descendants of the Sun methinks although I hope we all don’t end up crying buckets with this one. Most certainly, it’ll be very interesting to see the direction the writers of this drama will take and whether or not this new pairing between Johnny and Li Qin will bode well with viewers.

Leading man Huang Jingyu made sure he was in on the action when he attended the boot ceremony in uniform. There’s just something about men in uniform eh? But I digress. The actor definitely isn’t a stranger to wearing the uniform nor is he in any way a noob wielding that sniper gun thanks to his stint on the 2018 blockbuster film Operation Red Sea and the more recent police hit drama The Thunder.
Co-star Li Qin on the other hand needs no further introduction after her role as “Chicken Leg Girl” in this winter’s hit drama Joy of Life. There had previously been speculations as to who will play Xia Chu in My Dear Guardian but that certainly died down when the two were spotted at what looks like a dinner hosted last night for the drama before the boot ceremony earlier today.
