They say third time’s a charm but I guess it’ll only take two tries for the heroine in the modern romance Second Time is a Charm 第二次也很美.
The 57-episode drama follows the story of a young mother who finds her life crumbling to pieces after her marriage falls apart. Olivia Wang Ziwen takes the role of An An. She is a high-spirited woman in her twenties who got married straight out of college and immediately had a kid. Life could not be better for An An as she settles into being a housewife and spends her free time reading manga or watching anime. But everything changes when her husband leaves her and their 5 -year old son.
Enter Edward Zhang Luyi who acts as Xu Lang, An An’s ex-husband’s expert lawyer. He also happens to be a single dad to a 5-year old daughter who lost her mother due to a terrible car accident.
With the adorable family photo of the parents and their kids, it’s easy to see where the story goes from here and it’ll be told through the eyes of the heroine who transforms her life to become a manhua artist. Looks like Xu Xu from When a Snail Falls in Love retained her drawing skills!
I like the main theme that could potentially speak to a lot of people. Jumping to family life at a young age is quite prevalent these days though it still seems like a taboo. But hey, this might actually help the youth think twice before making rash decisions. Also in the cast are Yu Xiaowei, Lorla Yu Mingjia, Xu Hao, Xie Shuai, Xia Zitong and Li Tingzhe.
Release Date: November 20, 2019 Dragon TV, iQIYI, Tencent (two episodes daily at 7:30pm)
