Crime fighting mixed with a complicated romance are the two main elements of the Chinese drama Your Secret 我知道你的秘密. But it’s not your ordinary crime genre because this time, we get to see science work its magic in the justice system.
Based on a novel written by Yin Xun, it tells the story of two forensic scientists with an intriguing connection. Ye Qing plays Gu Chu, a promising student who just returned to school after dropping out due to family matters. She’s very determined to pursue her dreams of making it into the world of forensic science. Fate proves that it works in mysterious ways and she finds herself meeting forensic scientist Lu Beichen, played by Flying Tiger 2 star Bosco Wong, who is no other than her deceased boyfriend’s twin brother!
As if that’s not emotionally-challenging enough, Lu Beichen blames her for his brother’s death. Uh-oh. Sounds like they will have to put their differences aside to solve cases together. Rounding up the team is police officer Luo Chi, played by Qu Gaowei. The trio form an alliance to ‘speak for the dead’ and discover their secrets through science.
The show boasts a reunion for Bosco Wong and Ye Qing who were each other’s love interest in the fantasy-romance The Starry Night, The Starry Sea II. I’m particularly fond of this genre since I read books and watch western TV shows about forensic science, and I find that the fun of it is seeing the ingenious ways to solve a crime. Well that, and the main leads’ interesting connection has gotten me really worked up.
