I don’t think I’ve watched anything that focuses on ice skating before so Skate Into Love 冰糖炖雪梨 is going to be a fresh new theme for me. It’s based on a novel of the same name by Jiu Xiao Qi and is produced by Liu Ning of Ashes of Love.
In this 45-episode drama, the relationship of the two leads is comparable to that of a cat and a dog because they are sworn enemies. Although if you are expecting that the male lead is the one tormenting our heroine, then you are mistaken. Skate Into Love gives us a female lead named Tang Xue who constantly bullies our cowardly male lead, Li Yubing. Ohh! I like this already since I’m drawn to dramas with love-hate relationships. I think it gives a more dynamic turn than your usual love-at-first-sight kind of stories.
Janice Wu (The Brightest Star In The Sky) plays the intimidating Tang Xue who was desk mates with Li Yubing, played by Steven Zhang (My Huckleberry Friends) throughout their primary school years. Despite annoying each other, one thing connects them: their desire to be on ice.
Fast forward to six years later, the two meet again in university. Li Yubing has become the school’s ice hockey star while Tang Xue has given up on speed skating. Being reminded of how much he was under her mercy before, Li Yubing decides to pull some strings to have her become his helper. But his plan for payback is put on hold when he sees her in a new light. (I think we all know what’ll happen next here)
As expected, just when things are finally okay between the leads, one or more problems arise in the form of misunderstandings. All this and more will be faced by our enemy-turned-lovers pair as their relationship deepens. Will they be able to skate their way through this?
The plot plus having Deng Lun make a guest appearance is surely enough to make most viewers anticipate this. It also stars Zhou Lijie, Chu Yue, Cao Bo, He Xuanlin, Wei Tianhao, Han Jiunuo and Qin Tianyu.
Release Date: March 19, 2020 airs primetime on Zhejiang TV, Jiangsu TV, 10pm on Youku

Ice skating will probably just serve as a plot backdrop when it's actually going to be focusing on the typical cliche love story instead of on ice skating. Just like many other romance drama. Refreshing, doubt so.

from the trailer is does seem to focus on both leads career's. Such as the female lead is recovering from an injury.
