Success is more than just the tip of the iceberg and what lies beneath is just as equally important. If you take a good look at successful people, you only see the success, what you don’t see is the huge amount of sacrifice, the endless hours of hard work, the failures and risks that were overcome to get results. If success stories rock your boat, follow along on one man’s 20 year journey in the 57 episode drama, On the Road 在远方.
Orphaned at a young age, Yao Yuan took on his parent’s roles in long haul transportation after graduation. During his long haul runs, he saw a big potential in express transport opportunities. After getting his idea shot down by the postal higher ups, he gets the opportunity to meet the head of the state-run postal audit agency’s daughter, Lu Xiao Ou. However, things don’t end well between the two with Yao Yuan breaking things off, unwilling to drag Lu Xiao Ou down with his failures. In the years that follow, the two have many opportunities to encounter each other but alas never got together.
As the one that got away, Yao Yuan buries his feelings of inferiority and yearnings for Xiao Ou deeply. Until one day, the two reconnect again after Lu Xiao Ou offers her help to Yao Yuan who’s facing multiple challenges in his business. Will the two finally be on their way to realizing their hopes and dreams?
Being labelled as an entrepreneurship themed drama might admittedly sound a touch boring but please, do give this drama a chance because it will be helmed by none other than two of C-Ent’s recognizable veterans, Liu Ye and Ma Yili. Ma Yili last dazzled audiences as housewife Zi Jun in 2017’s successful hit drama The First Half of My Life, so it’s great to see her back on the small screens with a new project. She will be playing Lu Xiao Ou opposite Liu Ye who’ll be taking on the role of our struggling protagonist Yao Yuan. Meanwhile, Liu Ye needs no further introduction as you’ve probably seen him in his works like the comedic crime flick Cock and Bull, Purple Butterfly which premiered in Cannes 2003, Police Story 2013 and the internationally acclaimed Balzac et la Petite Tailleuse Chinoise.
With Liu Ye’s impressive years of experience, not to mention all his acting accolades thrown in with Ma Yili’s remarkable acting chops, it smells like a recipe for success!
Actors Mei Ting, Bao Jiangfeng, Zeng Li, Zheng Qi and Xue Haowen will also be appearing in the drama.
