After Listening Snow Tower, Qin Junjie has a different kind of drama coming up. This time, he trades his dagger for a gun to pay an undercover cop. The trope has been explored enough to show that it often takes a complexly layered character to make the role. Qin Junjie was impressive as the strategic thinker in Listening Snow Tower. You may also remember him playing a spy in Spy Hunter so going undercover feels like something right up his alley.
Never Say Never 善始善终 is a 35-episode suspense thriller that follows Fang Han whose girlfriend, an undercover agent named Luo Fei, is killed in the line of duty. To make matters worse, the team that Fang Han works for proves to be unsuccessful in putting a stop to criminals engaged in gun smuggling and drug dealing. They suffer heavy casualties and the criminal mastermind escapes. Under the behest of the police chief, Fang Han decides to finish the mission that his late girlfriend started. He goes undercover to put a stop to the drug ring and ultimately bring Luo Fei’s killer to justice.
Not to be confused with the other actress who goes by the same name, Sun Yi plays Jin Lanlan, a seemingly helpless woman working at a bar who may be more than she seems.
Xue Haowen plays Gu Tao, the drug lord who is beyond reproach. He is the man that our main protagonist ‘befriends’ in his quest for justice which may lead to conflicting interests and a backstory that nobody knew. Also in the cast are Li Kunlin, Tian Hao, Zou Guoming, Tian Lu, Zhi Yi, Da Bo, Wang Yongqian and Lin Wei.
Cop dramas can be a dime a dozen and not every single one can be a huge success like The Thunder. Although this doesn’t seem like the kind of drama to have a big budget, nor a well-known cast, who knows, it might surprise you.

This has become my favorite series after I watched the first episode. Really excellent series! Anticipation for the next episodes keep mounting. And by the way, I believe there are 42 episodes, not 35 as written in this article.
