They say that one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make in your life will be to make a choice between risking your friendship with someone by admitting you’re in love with them or keeping it a secret forever. The characters of sports romance The Best of You in My Mind 全世界最好的你 have reached a crossroad in their relationship.
Based on a web novel, the 35 episode drama will follow the story of two childhood friends who grew up together and the struggles of falling in love with your best friend, a universal situation I’m sure audiences can relate to. Lin Xichi is a vibrant veterinary student who outwardly appears to be strong while hiding insecurities inside. She will be played by actress Song Yiren who rose to fame thanks to her amazing portrayal of Sang Sang in the historical fantasy series Ever Night.
Alongside Song Yiren’s Lin Xichi, is rookie actor Zhang Yao who will be breathing life to Lin Xichi’s childhood best friend, Xu Fang. Zhang Yao, who starred in the drama When We Were Young will be portraying your typical bad boy with his devil-may-care attitude coupled with a bad temper (Oh and let’s not forget the good looking bit, because bad boys are almost always attractive. *LOL*) Xu Fang is a national defence student who, despite being seemingly arrogant, actually cares for Lin Xichi. He treats her well and is secretly in love with her since god knows when, but it turns out that she hasn’t even got a clue about it! Aww I love this part of the story because most of the time, it’s the other way around. Thankfully, their story takes a turn after Lin Xichi becomes drunk one night.
Oooh! I’m already intrigued as to what happens to Song Yiren’s character during this one fated night. I know the story is a bit of a cliché since a lot of dramas have tackled the same theme already. But let’s be honest, it’s the kind of theme worth rewatching no matter how predictable the story is. And who knows, there might be some surprises along the way from the drama’s producers. Plus, this kind of cutesy and heart-fluttering drama is exactly what I need after a long day, no matter how cliché it might sound. It’s too bad though that as of press time, no release date has yet been mentioned for the drama. But since official posters of the drama have already been released, I’m hoping that the premiere date will be announced soon. It also stars Qu Jingjing, Ma Xinmo, Li Chung-lin, Song Meixuan, Guo Xinyu and Chen Ze.
