Jerry Yan and Shen Yue are the leads of The Exchange Luck 交换吧运气, an upcoming drama based on a web novel of the same name by Mo Xi. Jerry Yan, who I still can’t believe is looking oh-so fine at the age of 42, will be playing an editor named Lu Xingcheng who is famous for his good luck. He crosses path with Shen Yue’s character named Tong Xiaoyou who is an aspiring designer that can’t seem to catch a break due to her bad luck. With their chance encounter, their luck interchanges.
I guess one of the reasons why I’m very much excited for this drama is because I’m a huge fan of the Taiwanese Meteor Garden from the early 2000s, so even if this couple pairing completely switches up things, after all, fans are so used to the idea of Shen Yue with Dylan Wang and Jerry Yan with Barbie Hsu, but it’s quite thrilling for me. I remember seeing Jerry Yan and Shen Yue in a show where they reenacted the iconic break up scene between Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si and they were just so good! They had me crying again even though I’ve watched that scene a number of times already.
Hmm, now that I’m reminded of that, I can say that while there may be concerns about the 20 year age gap, looking at them as a pair, it isn’t that much noticeable. Shen Yue was present at the filming ceremony held today though Jerry Yan did not attend. The cast also includes Jackie Li, Miles Wei Zheming, Stephanie Shen Yao, Wang Sen and Li Yuyang.

I knew the age is going to be the very first comment. There was once a rumor ZLY would act with Jerry and he was cursed so badly to the point he made a public comment about it.
This time Shen Yue is even more younger. Why would his fangirls yell at Shen Yue??? That did not happen in his previous rumors. It was only him, who got cursed at. Now, it's more like people are going to yell at him again. And it's going to be people who are not even Shen Yue's fans, they will just curse because they find him old or hating for no reason.
Many people say they like Zhan Zhen acting with Ni Ni in Love and Destiny because of his manly look, I got to agree manly is the way to go. Jerry is still good looking, better than Zhan Zhen.
However I have to say 20 is still a very big gap. I wished they would find people who are 5-6 years apart from each other. 10 years would be like the very maximum, it would be the most lenient one already. I think 20 is too much. I don't support either fans from both of their sides if they're going to argue who's smooching with who, I don't think either artist should choose this role if their age difference is this huge.

You know, I don't mind him taking cutesy stuff like this but, he is at the age where in he needs to be starring in more mature roles than this. So he got the role first? I know it can sound bad to decline…but if he got the role first it would actually be easier to decline. It sounds wayyy much more messier if she got the role first, then learns that he's joining, and she quit the role just because of him…etc.
If she decline something and that will come off rude, in his shoe, declining something will be rude too. Both are stars and famous, men and women are equal in status, not 100% but already close enough esp. in cases like this. Her declining is not going to be offensive. If he decline it, people will say he's thoughtful, so if she decline I would expect the same that she is thoughtful too. This is how you pull women's height equal to men, stop blaming men all the time and allow women to speak what they need.
But I really don't blame either of the stars, the agency shouldn't actually pull them together in the first place if they know their own etiquette. It's not like this is the first time too, there's been movies like this before with huge age gap.

As for me, regardless of the age, I don’t care cos I believe The Exchange Luck is a wholesome tv series.
I look forward to these two after I saw their re-enactment of Shancai-DaoMingsi break up. Thank you to the creator of this series… surely this will be another great project for SY and comeback for JY.

I am an international viewer, new to Asian dramas but familiar with Shen Yue and Jerry Yan from the two versions of Meteor Garden.They will do just fine. They are actors and that's what they are trained to do perform under different situations and circumstances. It seems that the concern is the age gap, so what? I am suspecting that many viewers want them to be more than what the script calls for. Then,that's not acting.
