Well well, it sure looks like another Korean superstar is planting both of her feet firmly into the c-drama industry as veteran actress Song Hye-kyo has confirmed signing a contract with internationally acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai‘s Jet Tone Film Production. The stunning actress recently attended the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards where she co-presented an award (lucky her) with Hong Kong actor Andy Lau. In it, the actress expressed how much she was looking forward to working with talented actors and directors in future Chinese and Hong Kong productions.

A household name in the Korean entertainment and beauty industry, the actress first captured viewer’s hearts when she portrayed the tragic Eun-suh in the drama Autumn in My Heart. She further cemented her place as one of the original Hallyu stars with her subsequent roles in dramas like Full House as the adorable and charming contract wife of rapper and actor Rain, All In and the (semi) recent smash hit, Descendants Of The Sun where she co-starred with future husband, Song Joong-ki, in a heart wrenching love story between an army captain and a doctor (if you’ve yet to watch it, watch it now! Their onscreen chemistry is intense) set in the volatile environs of a war torn country.

While the actress is very definitely a Hallyu superstar, she is no stranger to the c-drama industry, having had three Chinese flicks already under her belt. She first played a supporting role (and learned Cantonese) in Wong Kar Wai’s The Grandmaster, which she later on followed with John Woo’s The Crossing, and finally the contemporary rom-com, The Queens.
Song Hye Kyo is known as one of Korea’s most beautiful actresses, I mean, just take a look at all her beauty endorsements she’s done over the years, but she’s also shown that she has the mettle to play whatever role she’s been given exceptionally well. So I’m pretty sure we can all look forward to great things to come from the petite actress in the near future.
