If you loved the romantic comedy series Well Intended Love 奈何BOSS要娶我, which aired last February of this year, then you’ll definitely be over the moon with the announcement that the drama will be returning for a second season. In a press conference Sohu held this week to unveil its newest lineup of dramas, the company also took the opportunity to announce the fantastic news about the sequel – Well Intended Love 2.
The sequel will feature pretty much the same actors in the original – the charismatic “boss” Xu Kaicheng and softie Wang Shuang who played the main couple, Ian Yi Po-Chen, Liu Jiaxi and Huang Qianshuo who will all be under the same direction of Wu Qiang. You’ll notice though that actor Yang Haoming is not part of the lineup. It appears the actor will be starring in another Sohu production so fans can look forward to his new series to catch a glimpse of him.
As it is a sequel, I hope for the same (or even better) kind of chemistry from the lead and supporting actors as well as the overall fluff and light hearted “feels” the original series evoked. This is, after all, the reason why many viewers unexpectedly fell in love with the rom-com drama in the first place despite the not so very original storyline. The challenge though, will most definitely be on how the production can continue the momentum of the first series – will they inject new characters in and present viewers with further character development and a better plot? My fingers are crossed.
And on that note, the production team is inviting netizens to send in their story line pitches to Sohu. And, get this – the chosen story will be receiving a prize of 50,000 RMB! *woop woop*. That’s a fresh idea!
Also, due to its surprise popularity, Well Intended Love will also be available globally on Netflix starting May 17 and has been translated to 26 languages for everyone to enjoy.
