Modern family drama All is Well 都挺好 became a big hit with viewers for its accurate no holds barred portrayal of problems that a typical Chinese family has to face. It ended on a somewhat open-ended bittersweet note so I’m kind of hoping for a second season to see more of the Su family.
Recently, the cast and crew got together for a dinner party and the entire Su family was present. Su patriarch Ni Dahong (Su DaQiang) with his children Gao Xin (Su Mingzhe), Guo Jingfei (Su Mingcheng) and Yao Chen (Su Mingyu) and the Su family’s in-laws Gao Lu (Wu Fei) and Li Nian (Ju Li) were also in attendance.
It was a night of toasting wine and snapping photos, the lightheartedness of the event in contrast to the heavy themes in the show. It was nice seeing the entire Su clan having good relations with each other, sporting smiles and having a good time. It makes for a very heartwarming substitute for the ending that I wanted in the series. Considering how well the show did, they deserve to celebrate!
