Ivy Monsters 藤科动物也凶猛 is a drama that focuses on the life of university students studying abroad. Being a student in a foreign country brings its own set of problems especially when different cultures are involved. Not only that, but students still have to deal with the homesickness, their grades, and peer prejudice.
Ivy Monsters brings together Xu Lu (Spy Hunter) and Aarif Lee (The Thousand Faces Of Dunjia) as university students that study overseas. They are joined by Chen Yating, Hu Rongrong, Cai Die, Gan Yunchen, Liu Qiushi, Zhou Hui, Ma Qingqing, Dai Xuanru and Zhao Yunzhuo.
Xu Lu will play a bold and optimistic Gu Nian, while Aarif Lee will play a calm and introverted Zhuo Peng. Being total opposites of each other, it would be interesting to see how they would get along. Filming of Ivy Monsters has just started this January. The title “Ivy Monsters” was used to refer to students who had excelled academically. In the face of overwhelming odds, these students constantly adapt and grow while showing their determination.
It is hoped that the audience will be able to see the truth about the life that these students lead and that it will help in the integration between Chinese and Western cultures.
