Did she or didn’t she? That is the question.
Taiwanese singer and actress Cyndi Wang has been trending on social media – but this time not for the right reasons. Questions of whether she’s gone under the knife once again surfaced online following her attendance in a music awarding ceremony held in Beijing.
Known for her cutesy sweetheart image after her debut during the noughties, the #CyndiWangFace# hashtag has been doing the rounds online as Netizens questioned why photographs showed her looking quite different from the past, while others claimed that her expression was “unnatural”, her eyes and lips “swollen” and her face quite “stiff”.
Others however, paid no heed to the speculations and instead attributed the difference to makeup application and to the (poor) angle from where the photos were taken.
Following the rumours, Cyndi’s agency has released a statement yesterday, saying that the photos were taken intentionally from unflattering angles by unknown parties, and that they suspected the photos were likely heavily doctored during post processing. They go on to say the company, Day Star Music, will pursue legal action against any attempts to slander the reputation of the singer.
Cyndi also includes four photographs together with her agency’s statement on Weibo to “reveal” her true face to dispel any doubts posed by the photos previously shared online.
