Adventure themed dramas have always had a certain allure. They take viewers on a journey of discovery with mysteries to solve and places to explore. For those who love these type of dramas, we have another one to watch out for airing in two days!
The Golden Eyes 黄金瞳 is a 56-episode drama that stars Lay Zhang Yixing (Operation Love) and Wang Zixuan (Royal Highness). The two are no stranger to tomb raiding dramas as they’ve starred in The Mystic Nine and Tientsin Mystic, respectively. Both adaptations are based on novels by Nanpai Sanshu and Tianxia Bachang whose names are synonymous to the genre. The Golden Eyes from author Da Yan 打眼 aims to tell a similarly heart-pounding adventure story.
It follows Zhuang Rui (Lay Zhang), a lowly pawnshop employee who has an unfortunate accident involving robbers. After his recovery, he realizes that his eyes have changed. Chosen by destiny, he goes on an epic adventure to find out the secrets of the unknown. During the course of his adventures, he meets Huang Fuyun (Wang Yuexin), Peng Fei (Meng Asai) and the policewoman Miao Feifei (Wang Zixuan). Zhuang Rui and his group find themselves engaging hostile forces as they try to solve an old archaeological secret.
Even though it has an ensemble cast in the same way that The Mystic Nine had plenty of side characters, there’s no doubt that Lay’s popularity as a member of EXO, a singer, dancer, idol and actor will have many fans anticipating this. The main character’s evolution from ordinary to hero is something we’ve all heard of before, but it’s quite interesting to see how it will happen in The Golden Eyes. Wang Yuexin (Ghost Blows Out The Light: Mu Ye Gui Shi), Li Liqun (The Family), Chen Jiawen (Tomb of the Sea), Hong Xuan and Meng Asai (S.C.I. Mystery) are also in the cast.
