I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news all the time but Yan Shi Fan 艳势番之新青年 which was scheduled to premiere in three days has just announced that it’s been postponed. Sadly, sudden delays like this are a normal occurrence in c-dramaland. Sometimes, they happen without much explanation at all.
This time, the official reason given in the statement is that after discussion with the various broadcast networks, the tv series Yan Shi Fan is being postponed due to technical, editing and broadcasting issues among others. It will air on Dragon TV, Beijing TV, Youku and Mango TV before long.
Yan Shi Fan has been rumored for a January premiere since last year, but the date wasn’t officially announced until the last week or so. A press conference was held a few days ago and up until yesterday, a new batch of posters featuring Huang Zitao (Negotiator), Jackson Yi Yang Qian Xi (Boyhood), Hu Bingqing (Twenties Once Again) and the cast were newly released.
Frankly speaking, I really wonder how one decides to finally announce a premiere and then cancel. Does something come up last minute or were the details not ironed out to begin with. Isn’t it better not to announce at all?
A few days ago, there were already whispers of postponement due to rumors that investors have been editing the show to meet their purposes (usually that means filler episodes). While it remains to be a rumor, it seems the postponement turned out to be true.
