I Will Never Let You Go 小女花不弃 is a 51-episode Chinese drama series adapted from the novel Xiaonv Hua Buqi. Although the announcement of its release was very low key and sudden, it looks to be a promising series… mainly because of Ariel Lin who has finally returned to doing period dramas again after 5 years. (Already in her mid-thirties, she hasn’t aged at all!)

Ariel Lin, remembered for roles in period and modern dramas alike such will top bill this one along with Vin Zhang Binbin. His career has steadily risen since Three Lives Three Worlds, incidentally, he is younger than Ariel by 11 years.

The story revolves around a young wanderer with an extraordinary business sense and the masked hero who saves her which ultimately results in them falling in love. When the wanderer is revealed to be the Divine Maiden who will obtain a legendary treasure, various enemies hunt her down. She then lives life on the run and meets her savior who turns out to be the ambitious prince that wants to take the throne.

It includes Austin Lin (Unexpected), Kris Sun (Ever Night), Huang Xindi, Zhang Yan, Xing En (Romantic Detectives), Xiao Xiangfei, Lin Ziqing, Song Wenzuo, Peng Bo, Bao Yanxi, Viann Zhang (Untouchable Lovers) and Huang Meng (Fei Ge Zhan Dui).
Aside from the leads, the remaining cast was only introduced this week, many of which are new faces. Viann Zhang who has top billed a number of historical dramas is surprisingly part of the supporting cast. She plays a woman troubled by love.
Release Date: January 8, 2019 Zhejiang TV (two episodes every Tuesday – Thursday 10pm), Tencent, iQIYI, Youku

I like the posters! I really like both the leads. Nice to see a reverse age gap where the woman is older for once although their big age gap is not obvious at all. I'm so glad this is "only" 51 episodes" which is far more reasonable than all these super long dramas recently

I'm planning on watching this for Viann Zhang. She is so gorgeous. Every time I see her I'd be like She would play the perfect White hair maiden!!
Unfortunately I don't think her story line will be a happy one.

OMG, been waiting for Ariel Lin to act again. She's an amazing actress. Plus, Vin Zhang Binbin as lead? I'm already on board.

Watched 6 eps last night, I felt this story lack depth and lots of loophole compared to previous periodic dramas i watched. It's disappointed Ariel wastes time filming. With her fame and acting, she could pick a better drama to film

I agree she (AND VINN TOO) could've picked better roles and dramas together. It's kind of a regret, esp. she played these type of roles so many times already. At least she still a slaying ninja in those roles though. Almost nobody can play it like her anyways.
But overall, it is sitll thousand times better than the turtle pace Ming Lan airing now. I have nothing to watch atm at all and this drama is the one quite satisfying at the time being. A lot of times it's not always about the depth or storyline too, as long as the actors can play out their roles correctly. Or if the director can carry out his work correctly then everything will always be fine. Ashes of Love would be best example, tons of loopholes but people love it because of the character interactions. This is the same situation with IWNLYG. You can get the best story, best CGI, background, best actress/actor, etc but if the character interactions are failing, then everything falls flatly boring.

This storyline is so mediocre Minglan drama is much better it has depth and able to see the characters grow.

I'm enjoying this drama so much more than I expected..I love Ariel's witty and bright character. I love the pairing of Vin and Ariel, especially with Vin's double identity and personality that throws Ariel's character in a loop. Can't wait to watch more =)
