With the 12th Golden Eagle Festival just one day away, the internet debate comes to an end now that Dilraba Dilmurat has been announced as this year’s Golden Eagle Goddess. To be honest, it doesn’t seem like the honor has anything to do with the candidate’s achievements, but rather a prestigious club for a chosen few.
The first Golden Eagle Goddess was selected during the 6th Golden Eagle Festival in 2006. As the festival is held once every two years, this year marks the coronation of the seventh Golden Eagle Goddess.

Yes I agree. Yang Zi is a better actress than her. Dilreba although pretty and funny her acting is very bad. I couldn’t finish The Flames Daughter or Sweet Dreams. But popularity is popularity. You don’t need acting skills these days, just looks and good drama choices to make it.

Many people are upset Yang Zi didn't win. But it is apparent that Yang Zi have so much problems with gaining fame even after taking main roles such as Noble Aspiration and Long Zhu Chuan Qi. Even Destiny of White Snake came out at the same time as Ashes of Love but people did not praise Destiny of White Snake and only Ashes of Love. Not saying that she sucks at acting and have been failing dramas after dramas, it was really because the projects she did were just so bad. Even with acting skills, nothing can be done when the scripts are so horrible. Only until, because Ashes of Love finally have a better storyline that she get famous.
I'm getting annoyed how people slam DLRB about bad acting all the time now. She's not too far from Yang Zi, both ladies got such terrible projects the same. Pretend if Yang Zi was actually the main lead of The Flame's Daughter instead, Yang Zi would just get criticized the same because that is just how bad the projects were. The storylines were extremely childish and worst is it was not even interesting but just a bore. I have no interest in the Pillow Case Mystery because I already did not like that Feng Jiu story in the Ten Miles from the start, it does look to me like DLRB is going to continue doing all these roles where she will be selling beauty and not a professional storyline (I wouldn't say bad acting because the storyline probably wouldn't even exist for anybody to act).

I am not a DLRB fan, I can't finish any of her dramas, but she deserves to be a GED. This is not about your acting skills. You need strong industry connections and backing than your acting skills to make it in the ent-world and she has that. She's been consistently and heavily promoted by Jaywalk these 5 years. Yangmi is basically holding her hands to promote, but now her fans were fighting with YM fans a while ago. Anyway Golden Eagle Award is held every 2 years and RB has Pretty Li Hui Zhen and 1001 during that time on Mango TV (this award show is sponsored by Mango TV). So that gives her good exposure and gain tons of rabid fans compared to other actresses for the last two years. On the other hand, Yang Zi only has Qiu Ying Ying character from Ode To Joy for the last two years. Ashes of Love “Jin Mi” character will be nominated for upcoming Golden Eagle Award in 2 years. YZ also has one new modern drama to air and she’s filming one currently right now with Ma Tian Yu. Very likely both dramas will get picked up by Mango TV. These goddesses are chosen by the insider in the industry starting with Tang Yan.
One thing for sure for Yang Zi fans is that she will win at least one acting award if not two on October 14 night. I am happier for her for getting recognition for her acting if anything. She deserves it. Anticipating for her next fluffy romance drama Go Go Squid!

I have a feeling Pillow Book will be a huge hit though. Ten Miles kickstarted the romance xianxia hype; Ashes of Love followed up. Moreover, Pillow Book has the hype directly from Ten Miles with it being the sequel.

OP tbh a lot of the stuff you said are just factually wrong. First of all White Snake was pulled off the air by SARFT so it did not fail, it was just not allowed to air due to problems with one of the love lines.
YangZi's past dramas have actually been pretty successful, more so than Dilireba not that this is saying much. At least rating wise. You have to consider production and money that went into a project compared to returns. And YZ is considered a really good actress while Dilireba is much weaker acting wise. For the past two years DLR's studio has been trying hard to get her a hit drama and failing. While her dramas dont do bad, they dont do good either. Either TV ratings or online views are just below or average. YangZi is not a powerhouse but you can say Ashes of Love was her drama and it was a hit. And it had much less hype and no promotion compared to all recent DLR's dramas. These are facts. However, I would be surprised if this popularity followed YZ into her next project. While she is a really good actress, she keeps picking similar roles and people are getting tired of it.
I dont think most have a problem with Dilireba winning. Even if she doesnt have a hit drama and is a weaker actress. She is pretty popular and that makes up for her weakness in the other areas. Everyone recognizes this. Not all popular celebrities are good acting wise or have hit dramas. I don't think AB has a hit drama but she is super popular. If anything I think DLR will get her hit drama eventually, she is very hard working and seems set on finding a hit project.
Also to the anon above me Ten Miles did not kickstart the romance xianxia type. It has been going on for a while. There were a lot of big hits, even bigger than TMOPB before TMOPB even started filming.

I wish people spoke more with facts, and not what they think. If you compare Dilraba and Yang Zi's projects where they are the female lead, Dilraba has 3 projects which passed 1.0 in average, one project with 0.98, one project with 0.73 and one project with 0.40. This is not counting projects where she is second female lead like Diamond Lover or Eternal Love.
Yang Zi has two projects which passed 1.0, with the rest with numbers like 0.53, 0.86, 0.44. This is not counting dramas like Noble Aspirations and Ode to Joy where she is second or fourth female lead.
So Dilraba might be a weaker actress and doesn't have a notable lead role but her ratings record are not any weaker than Yang Zi's. Moreover, her fandom popularity definitely surpasses her.
In terms of web drama views, The Flame's Daughter is also alot higher than The Destiny of White Snake.
Also, the anon above is slightly wrong. Journey of Flower is the one that started the xianxia romance hype. Before JOF, there were xianxias like Swords of Legends, Xuanyuan Sword, Chinese Paladin which became popular but those were more male-centric and had more action.

Agree JOF started the romance hype. Chinese Paladin is xianxia but it has a clear storyline with action. The xianxia today are solely about the leads being pretty and shipping a cute couple together.

Not exactly, as of I see it, First = good looks (either sexy or cute, equally liked). Second = strong backing and sponsors. THIRD (most important) = is to pay your goddam ratings plus reviews to the very very top whether your show is good or bad because the thing is…. you are famous and a big rating queen so who would find out and not believe your star power?
2 years is a long time. Depends if she still get more good projects. By then, other rising actresses could be winning if they get casted in better projects. Or, I actually don't know how the heck their logic works because they kept awarding shows that are already 2 years old, like awarding PLHZ in 2018 when aired a long long time ago already… Why wait 2 years then? If in 2020 they are looking back at what's best in 2018 then maybe AOL might win.

You obviously dislike DLRB and want to say more bad stuff about her winning, but DLRB is under YM agency. If the writer had posted YM weird photos and marriage rumors before, then that means the writer isn't bias toward YM. She would very likely not bias toward DLRB too. DLRB and YM are almost a single item now, you cannot help but bring up the other one when mentioning one of them.
BTW, We all know the goddess YZ is very famous after AOL but her fame was only after AOL, so that is really kind of late this year. DLRB is still more famous first, that's why she won the popularity award. So, only the best actress award is left to argue about. Anyway, that award is extremely controversial too.
I believe Liu Tao won last year and she is definitely and totally one of the really best actress ever, ZLY fans were shameless to yell and cry at Liu Tao that their goddess should win instead when she is so mediocore. No matter how good somebody is and when they win, nobody would accept if it's not their goddess. I don't expect YZ but somebody like Sun Li (maybe already won before??)
