Coming from the success of Story of Yanxi Palace, Wu Jinyan has wrapped filming for her new drama, You Are My Answer, last month. She wasn’t well-known just a few months ago that it came into question how she kept landing lead roles in Yu Zheng dramas, specifically Story of Yanxi Palace with veteran actresses in supporting roles. All that has changed now that she’s proven herself as the one and only Wei Yingluo.

There will be many pairs of eyes looking towards her next drama. I’ve only seen her in costume and she’s equally beautiful in modern attire. It’s going to be a crime investigation drama that tells of an emotional conflict between the veteran head of a Major Crimes Unit and a female screenwriter.
Guo Xiao Dong (Eighteen Springs) plays the head of Major Crimes Unit, Zhou Yuan while Wu Jinyan (Untouchable Lovers) plays the brave young screenwriter Bai Xiao Lu. It also stars Zhao Shunran (Memory Lost), Pan Shiqi (Story of Yanxi Palace), Miao Chi (Customize Happiness) and Sun Jiajun.

I do see a very bright future for this girl.
It is not that she is not pretty or whatever, at first, it's just because her face can be so similar to many other actresses these days. Especially Zhou Dong yu. And Zhou Dong yu is really pretty in my opinion.
But this actress was exceptionally awesome in Palace of Yanxi that her face is now very recognizable.
So she is a very complete package now: very beautiful, talent in acting and even in dancing, can sing well, and another big plus for a very like-able personality.
It's no surprise why Yu Zheng chose her, such great luck he have to found her. He promoted so many actresses in the past that were extremely worse, they came in ugly and it was him who beautified them as well as teaching them to act. But, for Wu Ying Yan, she just jumped right in with full potential herself already.

Isn’t she already under scrutiny for ditching interview and giving attitude when her career just started getting spotlight. Not good to get caught with top star disease so soon.

She rose to fame so her schedule got really tight for many interviews, so she was unable to make to an appointment and requested rescheduling. I don't know how that was even news. Nobody had ever reschedule something in their life before or something? If she was so free and just purposely not showing up then yeah…they apologize for their stupid exaggerated news about her already. You need to get a check up for having disease of badmouthing stars, and make sure you don't ditch that appointment.

Both her and Xu Kai look much better in modern dress. It usually seems to be the other way around for Chinese actors haha

I will look out for the dramas starring Wu Jin Yan. First impressions are long lasting, and it's her role in Yanxi, and her hard work and success in this role, that formed a deep impression on audience around the world. You could say that she's branched off a new persona for women in dramas and movies, a kind of "black lotus" that's quite liberating to see – someone who can take charge of her troubles and live off with whatever consequences. Chutzpah!
The interesting thing is whether it's more her personality, WJY's, or if they're able to replicate it on other actresses. There are many waiting in line for that one opportunity to shine in the limelight. In time, we'll see if it's really just the circumstance of all elements falling in place for the success of Yanxi, and how much is dependent on WJY.
I, however, like to think WJY is very special, and her input, quite underestimated due to her relative obscurity prior to this role.
